A fictional take on the biblical story of David is intriguing.

Thank you for the great review.

Great review. It seems like those interested in medieval fantasy, historical fiction and biblical history will thoroughly enjoy reading this book! As I don’t enjoy these themes much, I’ll have to pass. Congrats on the BOTD though!

Thank you for your review. I love books that re-tell well-known tales. They allow the authors free reign to their imaginations and practise their story-telling skills. Although this is Book 2 of a series, I think it should read well as a standalone novel. As per my usual practice, I will look for Book 1 first and begin from there.

Retelling of Biblical stories in a fictional form will always be a winner for me. Saul and David battle stories are an epic. Retelling using historically appropriate war tools is a great additional touch. Well done for this review.

King David is one of the most fascinating biblical characters, above all because of his fighting ability. This book seems to focus on the conflicts with King Saul. It looks consistent that the author carefully weaves ancient warfare techniques. Sounds interesting.

Joseph Ganci has a talent for retelling stories from the Bible. His 2nd book in the Empire of Israel series is based on 1st and 2nd Samuel and features the adventurous life of David. This is an excellent read for fans of religious and historical fiction. The book review was well thought out.

This is a great novel that retells the story of King David from the Bible. The author does an excellent job at weaving the story along with the wars in that time period. Overall, a great storyline that has all the literary elements that make it deserving of the BOTD!

David and Saul really fought, didn’t they? Saul wanted his way and David wanted God’s.

The BOTD describes David's persecution by King Saul. The tactics of the war that ensues and the various interpersonal relationships are detailed in the story. I am always interested in a Christian faith based story Nice Review.

I am uninterested in books on religious topics, so I will skip this one. Thank you, though, for your insightful review, and congratulations on Book of the Day!

I love diving into biblical stories in depth. This sounds like an interesting retelling of the life of King David. I think the cover needs a little revising, however! Thanks for your review!
