Review of We are Voulhire: The Fires of Virko
We are Voulhire: The Fires of Virko by Matthew Tysz is the second book in the series called We are Voulhire. The series consists of nine books and I finally read the second one. To be honest, after reading The Fires of Virko, I am very excited to finish this entire series.
The second book is set in the Voulhire kingdom. But the kingdom is only a few steps away from the dawn of a new era. The dark side of another world is almost ready to demonstrate its power in full force. Across Virko's industrial city, demons approach Voulhire. This town is magnificent in its power and technological capabilities. The sick lord of the town, Lord Venden and also its founder in one person, has a son with completely different plans for the city than he has. Many things are getting complicated and there is no guarantee in these times of chaos. Power seekers are desperate to gain more. Many of those who want power don’t like to give something in return. In the meantime, Galen reached Virko, still searching for his place in Voulhire and learning more about himself.
My favorite positive aspect about the character is his or her behavior and composite. Each time I had to stop reading, because of some necessary things I had to do, I didn’t have to look at the start of the chapter to know from who’s point of view I’m reading. But instead of the way each character describes itself and what behaviour it exhibits, I am able to recall pretty quickly every event that happened. In general I love Matthew Tysz's writing style and his way of expressing things. I also liked how things got complicated in the plot and new aspects appeared. It kept me wanting to read more and made reading more exciting.
Speaking of negative aspects I truly cannot recall anything I didn't like nor thought it should be different. For me everything seemed to be in order, and I found only one error. The only thing I might mention as a negative aspect is the light profanity used in characters' speech. Other than that, there is nothing else I can consider negative.
Reading We are Voulhire: The Flames of Virko was even more enjoyable than reading the first book We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies. I wouldn’t mind if this book lasted a little longer because at the end I felt like it finished way too soon. Yet it makes me more excited to read the third book in the series, We are Voulhire: Someone Else's End.
It is an honor for me to give this book 5 out of 5 stars for everything I outlined for it. Since there is some light profanity in this book, I would recommend it to a mature reader. To fantasy readers as well, because there is a great prophecy in the story that will catch their attention as well.
