In We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Sky, readers are transported to a captivating realm of fantasy where they experience thrilling escapades and clashes of morality. This novel is the inaugural instalment in a collection, and the imaginative world crafted by author Matthew Tysz has profoundly impacted modern society. It has served as a source of inspiration for fields such as poetry, historiography, ethics, rhetoric, art, and architecture, and has even influenced language, politics, law, education, philosophy, science, and warfare.

Galen Bray, a youthful refugee from a conflict-ravaged region, seeks refuge in the prosperous kingdom of Voulhire in the hopes of creating a peaceful life and inheriting his uncle's forge. However, he discovers that adapting to Voulhire's unique environment is challenging because his previous experiences revolved mainly around survival. Along with his travel partner, Rowan, he embarks on a journey through the vast empire, oblivious to the turmoil brewing in other parts of the realm. As Galen's journey unfolds, the key questions are what encounters he will face and whether the kingdom will ever achieve lasting tranquillity.

Including a map in the book's first chapter is a brilliant idea that aids in visualizing the novel's geographical context, making it easier for readers to comprehend the characters' actions. The author's adroit use of language allowed me to vividly visualize the story and experience its exhilarating moments, especially the cliffhangers that had me at the edge of my seat. Moreover, the author expertly depicted the characters' distinct traits, creating a well-rounded ensemble that worked in harmony. The author's use of standard English was another noteworthy aspect that I admired. Each chapter dedicated sufficient time to character development, which was skillfully written. The novel had a coherent structure, and the action moved seamlessly from one chapter to the next. The novel's blend of steam-powered vehicles, magicians, magic, sword-fighting, and the author's adept construction of characters and storyline added a touch of modernity to the medieval setting. The conspirators' insatiable hunger for power that could impact Voulhire's destiny created a sense of anticipation that made for an exciting and unparalleled reading experience. The book's most memorable aspects were the intricate and at times graphic scenes.

This book was flawless in its writing and execution, leaving me with nothing to dislike. The author adeptly uses the novel as a platform to explore and remark on various contemporary themes, providing abundant inspiration for writers, artists, and intellectuals alike.

After conducting meticulous analysis, I found no shortcomings in the book, which is why I gave it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. This rating is undoubtedly well-earned for the book's captivating suspense, and riveting narration. The book was exceptionally well-edited and error-free. I strongly recommend this exceptional fantasy thriller to anyone who relishes suspenseful literature, fantasy fiction, stories involving magic, or medieval tales, and encourage them to immerse themselves in its splendour.
