This sounds like an engaging thriller. I’m not sure how I feel about multiple perspectives if it includes both the protagonist’s and the antagonist’s sides since that can sometimes ruin the tension and mystery, but maybe this author handled it well. I’ll have to read the book to find out. Thank you for the helpful review.

The life of a middle class man who gets greedy after looking at the diamonds. Interesting plot! Looking forward to what happens next!

Your review caught my attention and piqued my interest in reading the sample. The author used simple words, which I found appealing. Although the pages I sampled were fine, they did not hold my interest for long. The author should have started the scene with Jack and Bev finding the diamonds in the train, then moved to a flashback scene and given Jack's detailed introduction. That, in my opinion, would have increased the suspense and encouraged me to read further.

This sounds interesting but why would Jack pick up the box without checking its content and possibly seek to find the owner? Nice review!

The plot sounds fascinating, and even if Life didn't go as planned because of his injury, he still got a job which aided his survival. I'm more interested in how he handles the situation with the crime boss. Congrats on BOTD!!

Bev dies? I did not see that coming! As you mentioned, the title sounds intriguing, and it's what brought me to this review. The plot seems fascinating, too. How will Jack handle the situation and go unscathed from the clutches of the mafia? What if he doesn't?

"Devil's Ice" by Jefferson Thomas seems like an interesting crime thriller. I will read to know if the Chicago crime boss succeeded in recovering his diamonds from Jack.

Thank you for your review. I agree with your assessment that the story was easy to read and that the author was able to hold the reader's attention. I also like the omniscient perspective as this allows the reader to get a better idea of what is going on. Another thriller to add to the reading list!
