We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a fantastic science fiction book about the ruler of Voulhire and his sons. The book is about a very wise king who has desperate sons who are hungry for power and want the seat of their father, King Wilhelm. When he discovered that the throne had become a symbol of authority that his four sons would do anything to sit on, he became worried and began to look for solutions. He made a very wise decision, which I did not expect, as he removed the sons from the kingdom and gave them part of his kingdom to rule over. There were some linking islands that connected and were under his rulership, and he shared them amongst them, gave them an army to protect them, and also made sure they enjoyed their rulership without being controlled or monitored by him.

The princes immediately took charge, and within a short while they started fighting for their selfish interests. The book shows how they use their magic and might to tackle each other nonstop. The land of the princes shows what happens when selfish people are put in positions of power as their lands face unrest, which leads to people running away due to loss of lives and difficulties. The king of Voulhire closed his borders due to the high level of immigration from people running away from the land of the princes, but luckily for a man named Galen Bray, he was lucky enough to be accepted into the kingdom. He is expected to take his old uncle's forge, as he is the sole heir.

What I like about the book is how a map of the whole kingdom and the islands was made and put into the book to help readers understand the geography of the kingdom. It also teaches us the effects of good government and how it impacts the development and safety of the people. The plot twists are very dynamic, and the book is full of suspense.

There is nothing I did not like about the book, as it was exceptionally written and edited.

I will be giving the book five out of five stars. I’ll suggest this book for lovers of fantasy, historical, and adventure books.
