Review of Terms of Service
Terms of Service by Craig W. Stanfill is a sci-fi novel that focuses the entire plot on hypothetical future civilization. The concept of race and gender are completely eliminated by the usage of she/her pronouns for obvious male characters. The colors mentioned were neutral tones and no names were used for any sort of companies.
The plot commences as follows: The entire world is under the control of artificial intelligence. The life of every human being is regulated by the artificial intelligence companies right from the moment a person wakes up till he goes back to bed. A set of rules is provided to every individual and anyone who dares to break them were severely punished. The lead character of this story “Kim” works for an artificial intelligence company. Her job is to train the automatons of artificial intelligence that belong to higher ranks. Initially, she was so proud to train them and lead a life without violating a single rule. She woke up and took coffee from the house bot, ate the breakfast that the AI refrigerator decided, got on the bus and sat in the exact same seat that was set for her. She followed every rule that was set for a perfect human being. Eventually, her life got too regulated and boring. One fine day, Kim was assigned to train an automaton called Kimberly. It rapidly understood every command and got a deep knowledge on human emotions. Kim noticed that Kimberly glitched every time it started to question the rules that were set and figured out that it cannot be a coincidence. This makes Kim question her entire so-called perfect life. Did Kim start to rebel against the AI companies? What were the consequences? Did she succeed in breaking the system of rules?
I personally enjoyed reading this novel. The gender-neutral pronouns, neutral colors and the development in Artificial Intelligence were so realistic and thoughtful writing by the author. The description of every detail made me immerse myself in the story. There were no spelling or grammatical errors and it is safe to say that this novel is exceptionally well-edited.
The erotic scenes in this novel are intensely described. The starting parts of the novel are kind of slow-paced, but eventually it became faster. There aren’t any major negative thoughts about this novel.
I rate this novel 5 out of 5 stars as i thoroughly enjoyed reading it and didn't find any negative thoughts as I mentioned above. I recommend this novel to readers above 18 years of age as this novel contains few erotic scenes. It’s definitely worth a read!
