Each line of the poem speaks to someone and their struggles in life.
To forcefully defend your own as needed, but not offensively attack others.
To set boundaries without crossing boundaries.
These words connects deeply.

It tells us exactly what grace is and what it is not. This is more like a life guide script for me. Each line is accurate and resourceful.

The poem establishes a situational comparison of virtues of life, and how to apply each virtue. Scott Hughes lays out a measure of how much one should do something, and lays a contrast to the same as a limit to the extent the measure should apply.
The writer has adapted the Free Verse style in composition of the poem, which makes it very easy not only to read, but also to comprehend. The application of 'to' and 'but' highlights the writers mind, by establishing a theme at the end of each stanza.
In a scale of one to five, the writer has addressed the title of the poem 5/5.
