Life isn't always fair. However, I find it very inspiring when people shake it off and get back on their feet. This is a true survivor's memoir.
As long as there is a concept of victors, the vanquished will always exist.

I am intrigued to learn about the author's experience of enduring jail time due to false accusations and the lessons she learned throughout that challenging period. It is astonishing to consider the strength and resilience required to endure such a difficult situation. I am eager to delve into the book and gain insight into the author's journey, including the hardships faced, the personal growth achieved, and the valuable lessons learned along the way. This story promises to be a compelling testament to the human spirit's ability to persevere in the face of adversity and emerge stronger on the other side.

It must have been difficult for Karen to go from a privileged life to time in a Brazilian prison. Thank you for your review.

This seems like an incredibly personal piece of writing to the author. I think many people would benefit from reading her unique story. However, I don't believe this would be something I would enjoy. Well done on a great review!

This seems like a poignant memoir. I hope it sheds light on all the issues going on in Brazil. It's such a beautiful, naturally-rich country! It deserves better from us humans.

The sample pages held my interest way past the first chapter. The author's narration style and her life story were compelling. It was heartbreaking to read about her fear-filled childhood caused by her father's bad temper. As an outsider, it would be unimaginable that such a super-affluent family would endure so much suffering. Congratulation on being selected BOTD!

The memoir is an eye-opening account of horrific crimes against humanity committed by a corrupt military system. It gives a voice to victims and survivors of violence.

"The Parrot's Perch" by Karen Keilt is actually the author's memoir. The central place in the book is devoted to the hardships that Karen had to endure. The book is professionally edited.
