Man Mission: Four Men, Fifteen Years, One Epic Journey. As the title says, this book is about the journey of four men: an unnamed main character and his three friends, Alec, Sam, and Daniel. Every year, they will allocate a week off for vacation in search of adventure and exotic foods. Starting off as a half-hearted plan to go to New Zealand for a hike where they stumbled upon drug dealers, man-mission activity gradually increased each year. They travelled to hike in the depths of the forest, bike in a bustling city, come face-to-face with a lion, and eventually ice climb in the most extreme place on earth. Along the way, they met all kinds of people and made friends. All of them eventually got married, had kids, and had good careers. However, just like their unexpected encounter during the man's mission, their personal lives are also full of unexpected twists and turns.

The author, Eytan Uliel, does a very wonderful job presenting the storyline as part monologue, part travelogue. It was packed with adventures, beautiful scenery, and manly humour. As a woman, this book gave me a peek at a man’s heart and his struggles. Of what would make them a man and what they think a man is. It confused me and, at the same time, gave me a new perspective on life. I love that Eytan didn’t include the year or specific time in his book, thus making this book relevant to read even in the next few years.

However, I felt like this book was too fast-paced. Personally, I would love to read about each journey that they make instead of just the significant encounters. Nonetheless, the author had beautifully written each and every sentence, which made me too invested. I can feel his sadness, his desperation, and his loneliness. I shed tears when he cries and congratulate him when he succeeds. That’s how invested I am in this book.

Having said that, I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars for its perfectly edited book and its unique view of life. It was an eye-opening and encouraging book.

This book is suitable for everyone. For boys learning how to be men or for wives to have a peek at how men think. For a daughter or for a friend. I’m glad I chose to read this book, and I guarantee it will teach its readers lessons in life.
