This book sounds very emotional and perfect for fans of historical fiction and character-driven fiction. It’s rare to get insight into the life of an ordinary citizen of Nazi Germany during World War II in fiction; the last that I can remember seeing is in the movie Swing Kids. Her brother Herman earned an engineering degree and was forced to work for the Nazis. Her brother Hans was forced to join the Nazi army and the twins were indoctrinated by the Nazis. Read this well written eye-opening book to learn Annalise and her family’s fate. Does she find love? Did her parents and siblings survive the war?
