Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies
The first book in Matthew Tysz's fantasy series We are Voulhire: is titled A New Arrival Under Great Skies. Galen Bray, a blacksmithing refugee who came to Voulhire from a war-torn island, is introduced to the reader in this novel. While this is happening, we are introduced to the growing threats that pose a threat to Voulhire's current peace. While the deadly Riva Rohavi rebels are preparing to overthrow the kingdom to the west, King Wilhelm must deal with the schemes of the slick-talking chancellor Midius Maido. The feared sorcerer Meldorath is imprisoned close to the coastal village of Hillport, where the recently appointed Lord Eldus Alderman is trying to untangle the web of deceit surrounding the town's former lords. This poses arguably the greatest threat of all.
When I initially saw this book, I assumed it was set in a sci-fi alternate reality. The fantasy genre is my favorite after reading it, though. This book is able to amuse me while I read it thanks to magic and regal spices. The book's introduction includes a map, an explanation of the setting, and the background of the characters relevant to the plot, as well as a link to the author's website for a more in-depth explanation. I truly enjoy this since it makes the tale much clearer to me and makes it easier for me to picture the scenes in the book. The fact that there are so many characters and locales made me disoriented while reading, but that's not a problem. Perhaps it's because this is the first book in the series and I'm still getting used to the story's setting.
There are a lot of things that contributed to my enjoyment of this book. With his powerful writing and thoughtful character development, the author has created a remarkable world. He has also given the readers a map, which makes this made-up planet seem real. The plotline of the story is complicated and has numerous facets, including a new realm with a rich political past and intricate personalities. I'm eager to read the remaining volumes in this series.
Only when a book shines in one aspect can it be considered good. Simply because a book is intriguing or well-edited does not make me like it. Both must be present. Fortunately, the first book in the We are Voulhire series, We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies, was both. Nothing about it bothered me because it was superbly edited, intriguing, and ended in a way that made me want to read the sequel. It had no flaws and was flawless in every way I could think of. I give We are Voulhire: A New Arrival beneath Great Skies a perfect 5 out of 5 stars rating as I would anticipate. That flawless rating is deserved, plus more.
Readers who enjoy fantasy, fiction, sci-fi, and criminal novels should pick up this book. Even though the book was exciting to read and the plot developed steadily, it is appropriate for anyone who wants to unwind with a nice novel.
