Matthew Tysz seems to be a very creative dark fantasy writer. The protagonist Galen Brayhaving endured oppression, servitude, and starvation as a child in the lands of the princes, what will he do when caught amid the power struggle between the emperor's sons. I got this book by chance way back and even though it certainly wasn't what I was anticipating after reading the description I surprisingly was able to enjoy it enormously, anyway. I couldn't rest until I was able to read the whole series and ended up as huge fan of it!
