Review of Love In The Eye Of The Storm
Love In The Eye Of The Storm by Isabelle Knightly is a fictional romance novel. The main character, Lillian, faces the challenge of holding onto an inherited estate whilst others are eager to take it away. Her dedication to her cause is stormy, literally and emotionally, providing a gripping story.
After the recent death of her father, Lillian is the beneficiary to his estate, Whispering Willows. The estate is beautiful and valuable, but the asset is in debt. Her mother, friends, and solicitor urge her to sell the estate, but Lillian is determined to preserve her childhood memories and her father's legacy. Her mother tries to sell the estate, catching the attention of Gabriel Hanson. Gabriel is a wealthy businessman who has a construction company. He desperately wants to buy Whispering Willows and aggressively pursues it. With Lillian and Gabriel adamant about their desires for the estate, their initial relationship is hostile. In an unexpected turn of events, the pair spend more time together professionally, with both unprepared for what transpires.
I liked all the characters in the book, especially Lillian and Gabriel. Lillian is passionate and determined. She has a sassy side and asserts herself with Gabriel, an influential man used to getting his way. The author developed the characters well, and you learn more about them as the story progresses. They experience relatable emotions and form an interesting dynamic. The author has created great characters, leaving you wanting to know more about them and how their lives continue in the future.
The story is very engaging and fast-paced. As well as romance, there are elements of adventure and suspense. The book is a real page-turner and easy to read in one go due to its momentum. I thoroughly enjoyed every page and was eager to learn how the story would develop.
I loved the descriptions of Whispering Willows. The author created a beautiful location with lakes and trails. The addition of horses in the story enhances this wonderful place that is left to Lillian by her father. As a reader, you understand why the estate is so desirable. Lillian has two sides, a hard-working businesswoman and someone happy in nature with an equestrian passion. I enjoyed this combination and how the author displayed different sides of her personality.
I found two spelling and grammar mistakes. These did not detract from my enjoyment of this book. Despite these two minor errors, I think the book has been edited professionally. I found nothing to dislike about the book. I loved the story and the characters. The plot moves in unexpected ways and moves fast. I would love to enjoy a sequel to discover more about the characters. I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars.
