A nice fiction story book "The Early Years of 'Squirt' Malone" by Richard W. Kelly, which follows the life of John who had a dream of becoming a wrestler. The story appears captivating read to me.

Unfortunately, I will have to pass this book, because I never had even the slightest interest in wrestling, boxing or any other aggressive sports. I understand this story can also be considered inspirational, but I don't like reading them as well. Apologies and congratulations on BOTD!

Good review. You could have given us more details on why this story is worth reading over some similar books. I am not a big fan of wrestling since I think it is drama (fiction), just like this story. :lol2:

First-person narrative is uncommon, especially in fiction, but it adds flavor to the book and creates a personal connection between the reader and the author. I find John's 'Squirt' story relatable, and I am impressed by it. As a fan of wrestling, I believe this book is perfect for me.

Wrestling is one of my favorite sports, and I enjoy watching its superstars' behind-the-scenes stories. Just like any other sportsman's journey, I hope the book is inspiring and filled with valuable lessons related to dream pursuit. I would really like to read more about John's life.

John Malone, or 'Squirt,' is a well-developed and captivating protagonist. His journey from a farm boy with ambitious dreams to a professional wrestler is filled with obstacles and personal growth. His tenacity and bravery are admirable, and readers will find themselves invested in his story. The inner conflict between his immaturity and his determination keeps the readers engaged and rooting for his success.

The Early Years of 'Squirt' Malone" is a highly intriguing historical fiction book that combines captivating storytelling, a well-developed protagonist, and an immersive first-person narrative. Richard W. Kelly's writing style and ability to transport readers into the world of professional wrestling are commendable.

The book maintains its appeal and delivers an engaging reading experience. I highly recommend this book to fiction lovers, especially those who enjoy first-person narratives. It is a compelling tale that will captivate and entertain readers from start to finish.

The Early Years of “Squirt” Malone might be have an engrossing plot, but the writing style did not appeal to me at all. It read like an immature writer’s attempt at first person narrative. I just read the intro, but do not think I would enjoy reading the rest of the book. Maybe as an audiobook it would be more inviting.

This review was so accurate saying how well the writing was done in first person. I completely agree that it was as if someone was with me telling me their life story. As someone who does not particularly care for wrestling, this book seems intriguing and I could see myself reading it.

For some reason, I thought the book was more of a memoir. Regardless, I'd like to read it. I have to admit the protagonist was too brave for his age. Twelve and already aspiring to be a wrestler? Must be an exciting read.

Very highly recommended

'The Early Years of 'Squirt' Malone' is an exceptional historical fiction novel. It beautifully captures the essence of the carnival era and the establishment of professional wrestling. The author, Richard W. Kelly, has a captivating writing style that engrosses the reader from the very beginning. I was initially under the impression that it was an autobiography due to the immersive first-person narrative.

The book has a remarkable ability to transport the reader into the world of 'Squirt' Malone. The storytelling is masterful, with each chapter seamlessly connecting and contributing to the overall narrative. The protagonist, John Malone, later known as 'Squirt,' is a compelling character with a perfect balance of immaturity and brave determination. His relentless pursuit of his dreams kept me hooked throughout the book.

The only minor flaw I found in this book was some punctuation mistakes, but they were negligible and did not hinder the overall reading experience. The book is highly intriguing and deserves a solid 4 out of 4 stars rating. I cannot deduct a star as there is nothing substantial to criticize. However, it would have been even more enjoyable with fewer errors.

I highly recommend 'The Early Years of 'Squirt' Malone' to fiction lovers, especially those who appreciate first-person narratives. This book is a gem, and if you enjoy immersive storytelling, then it is a perfect choice for you.
