6 months ago, 24-year-old Faith Bennet had quite a strange dream. She was in a dark space that suddenly became very bright. She didn't know what the source of the light was, but it enveloped her. Six figures appeared in front of her. They were in a circle, kneeling. In the middle of the circle were five candles and an iron spike that seemed to have been covered with blood. The symbolism didn't mean much to her. From within the depths of the space that covered her, she suddenly heard the voice of God. She was given a mission to save the world from its misery and darkness. She would have to perform a ritual on a specific day in the creepy house on Wiltmore Street. Mission of Faith by Ben Auker followed the adventures of Faith Bennet and her acquaintances into hell.

I quite liked the beginning of the story. It was a dark introduction, and there was enough suspense in it to motivate me to read further. I wanted to know how Faith would accomplish this impossible mission. The idea of a 24-year-old librarian working to save the world from evil was interesting. I love characters that seem basic but do incredible things.

This book blends both the fantasy and adventure genres into one. There was a bit of magic involved in the narration. There were also a variety of strange creatures that made an appearance at different points of the plot. The journey into hell was also quite long and adventurous. Faith and her accomplices had to navigate a lot of dangerous twists and turns as they tried to get to their destination, which was interesting.

The plotline was a little one-dimensional, however. Once Faith, Roxanne, Heidi, and others made it into the other dimension, the plot became repetitive. It wasn’t until the 84th chapter that I felt that the plot became a little more interesting again. I do not doubt that the storyline could be seen as fun, but from a technical point, I felt that it needed more interesting plot points.

The book could have used another round of editing as well. I noted quite a large number of both grammatical and typographical errors, which influenced my rating. The one-dimensional plotline also influenced my rating, which was how I reached 3 out of 5 stars. I think that it is a strong rating for the book, and I am positive that people who love adventure or fantasy novels will enjoy most parts of it. It's packed with a lot of fantastical encounters and a good portion of magic tricks.
