Excellent review of this book. Definitely my kind of book. So easy to imagine the location with masterful character descriptions in the book. The five are so different from each other. The sample of a few chapters seemed to move slowly, but for the sake of readers who hadn't read the prequel, it set everything up for the action to begin. It is a stand alone story. Definitely 4 out of 4 for the review. Such a great story to have as Book of the Day. Well done.

This action filled fiction novel really brings to light the questions that arise when achieving a goal that may even endanger lives. The five characters are on a quest to find highly coveted gold. As varied as their backgrounds are, it is interesting to see the dynamics played especially how human nature comes into play. Congrats on the BOTD!

The BOTD features how people with varying talents and personalities are able to work together for a common goal. The narration from Nothing Brown is a unique approach in this tale during the gold rush.

A monologue story telling style that always gets my attention. It is always guaranteed to hold my attention. One becomes like the author in a sense, easily delving into the events being retold. The aspect of uneasy adventure creates a sense of foreboding and at the sane time hope and quest for wealth at the same time which is shared by all adventurous spirits such as mine. I can easily award a 5star for this one.

Trust, friendship and togetherness existed between the five men though each had different attitudes and opinions of things, kept them and they protected each other and worked hand in hand to stay alive as they mine the gold. This book will catch the attention of those who take pleasure in a gold mining novel. Good review

I agree with what the review said. The book portrayed the individual traits of the characters and made them complement each other. That made the book more interesting plus the setting of the story as well.

“The Second Five” by Raymon Maher is a story about a group of miners panning and digging for gold in the Frazier River during the 1860s in British Columbia, Canada and is a sequel to The Deadly Five. The names of the main characters are probably typical of gold miners: Nothing Brown, Mean Mike, Henry the singer, Jacque, CF and Frenchy. These miners along with hundreds of others are hoping to acquire easy wealth by digging for gold. This is an action filled adventure book that takes place in the Canadian wilderness. Well written with a very good review.

Unfortunately I am not interested in reading this historical fiction. I am not keen on reading about a group of miners in search of gold in British Columbia. I shall take a pass on reading this one. However, congratulations to the author on book of the day.

The setting of this adventurous story seems to hold intriguing elements as its theme is the expedition for gold in the 1860s and the five characters with different backgrounds and their quest for gold sound fabulous.
