ARA Review by MAbdulManan of In It Together
“In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All” by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes is a book that explores the interconnectedness and interdependence of all living beings and the power of love to overcome the challenges and conflicts that we face in our personal and collective lives. The author, who is a philosopher, teacher, and activist, shares his insights and wisdom on various topics such as love, consciousness, self-discipline, spiritual freedom, and happiness, and shows how they are all related and essential for our well-being and growth.
The book is divided into four parts: The Beautiful Struggle, The Beautiful Unity, The Beautiful Freedom, and The Beautiful Happiness. Each part contains several chapters that focus on a specific theme or question. The chapters are short and easy to read, but they are also deep and thought-provoking. The author uses simple language and examples to explain complex concepts and ideas. He also uses metaphors, analogies, and diagrams to make his arguments more clear and convincing.
The book is not a typical self-help book that gives you a list of steps or rules to follow. Rather, it is a philosophical journey that invites you to reflect on your own beliefs, assumptions, and experiences, and to challenge them with new perspectives and insights. The author draws from various sources of inspiration, such as science, art, religion, and philosophy, and quotes from many influential thinkers and teachers from different times and cultures. He also shares his own personal stories and anecdotes that illustrate his points and make them more relatable.
The book is not meant to be read in one sitting or in a linear fashion. Rather, it is meant to be savored and revisited as often as needed. The author encourages the reader to take their time and to experiment with the ideas and practices he suggests. He also invites the reader to ask questions and to seek their own answers. He does not claim to have all the answers or to know the ultimate truth. He admits his own limitations and biases, and he respects the diversity and uniqueness of each individual.
The book is not just a book; it is a conversation. A conversation between the author and the reader, between the reader and themselves, between the reader and others, between the reader
I gave this book 4 stars out of 5 because I think it is a very well-written and inspiring book that offers a lot of valuable insights and perspectives on various aspects of life. I liked the author’s style, humor, and honesty, and I appreciated his use of different sources and examples to support his arguments. I also enjoyed the conversational tone and the interactive nature of the book, which made me feel more engaged and involved.
However, I did not give this book 5 stars because I also found some parts of the book to be repetitive, vague, or too abstract. Some of the concepts and ideas were not explained clearly or in enough detail, and some of the practices and suggestions were not very practical or realistic. I also felt that some of the chapters were too long or too short, and that the book could have been more organized and structured.
Overall, I think this book is a great read for anyone who wants to learn more about themselves, others, and the world. It is not a perfect book, but it is a beautiful one. It is a book that will make you think, feel, and grow. It is a book that is in it together with you.
