Stories of hope like this deserve to be shared. I can understand the annoyance of having to read through descriptions of medication and doses, but it is relevant information for those who go through the same suffering. Perhaps this information can be shared via footnotes.

This is a really encouraging review. I sampled this book, and it felt so heartbreaking that I adore the reviewer's determination to read this book to its happy end. The only point where I disagree with the reviewer is the deduction of a star because of frequent mention of dosages of the medicines Lou was taking - I think the dosages are very useful because they may help medical practitioners to rescue other children. But all in all, this is a great review and a very useful book.

The review was also very informative. I learned a lot about Lou's illness and the treatments he received. I also learned a lot about the advocacy process and how to fight for the best care for your child.

This nonfiction book talks about how Mark told the story of Louis's healing journey from a devastating diagnosis of having no chance of surviving to become the first survivor of the disease. I like how this book serves as an encouragement to anyone facing the same type of problem. I also like how the author explains this book with the true story of how they first noticed Louis's disease to the final cure of the disease. Nice review.

This book is both enlightening and inspirational. I am inspired by Mark and Mary's unrelenting efforts to explore as many as possible measures and procedures that could help Louis recover. The journal entries Mark created are really helpful. The parents' courage to ask relevant questions and change medical facilities and procedures when necessary are commendable. I hope the author fixes the grammatical errors in the book.

The narrative of a parent's (Mark and Mary) love for their child (Louis) and how that love was able to outlast a devastating crisis is told in the book First Survivor. Louis' life serves as evidence that miracles do occur. Thanks for your review.

I loved how the review captured the emotional journey of the family. The author did a great job of conveying the fear, uncertainty, and hope that the family experienced throughout Lou's illness. I could really feel their pain and joy as they fought for their son's life.

This is quite a heartfelt review. Seeing your child fighting for their life would be more than just a normal challenge for any parent. I'm curious to know more about what the book holds and how the dad was able to stay strong regardless.

As a parent, my heart ached for this family. It was hard to imagine a small child enduring all that he had to. While reading it, the book draws you in if the kid will get better test after test.
