It's a great review and the storyline seems to be intriguing. Hard times always mold a person and we came out as stronger than before. Congrats on BOTD.

If you’re interested in this style of historical fiction and stories that focus on the “everything is possible if you work hard enough” attitude, then this certainly seems like it would be a good option for you.

We all love a rags to riches story that inspires us to go for our wildest dreams.
I hope John's relationship with his parents remained strong.
Great review.

The story seems to be about the struggles of immigrants. At the same time rise of John from street worker to a professional is amazing part of the theme.

The message in this book is a beautiful one: passion and drive for success are more important than background. I don't really feel for the storyline though, John's character is not speaking to me, so I will not read this book.
