I constantly listen to music when I write. The music varies wildly too. Sometimes I enjoy some soft, relaxing piano music, but many days I will rock out to some Five Finger Death Punch and Daft Punk.

I like to listen to classical music with a strong percussion sound.

Absolutely - sometimes traditional Irish music or way over to the Progressive Rock scene.

Yes, but only instrumental music. I get distracted if I hear someone's voice in the background when listening go music.

It depends on my mood and what i'm writing. I am a university student so every time i write an essay I listen to music. To me music is universal, calming, and it just helps you relax and get through whatever you are writing. It is not for everyone, some people may feel like its distracting or irritating.

I tend to listen to music with lyrics. It helps to get my line of thought together in order to put words down to paper. I often imagine a sort of "video" in my head to go along with the lyrics. I've managed to write quite a few stories this way since I want to see the characters appear to match the emotions of the song. To me, the music helps me to see a a fraction of the story I wish to write. Once I have that fixed in my mind and it begins to stick I start to write. After a few minutes I end up tuning the music out. It's instrumentals that will distract me, but again it depends. The only instrumentals I really like are the ones from Batman: Arkaham City.

I find it difficult to write while there's music like pop and hip-hop playing. I get distracted and start singing along. I like listening to music without words; I believe classical music stimulates my writing skills. Vivaldi's Four Seasons is the best.

There are times that listening to music does help me with writing. Sometimes it inspires me. There was a time I was listening to an old playlist, a song came up and I suddenly noticed the lyrics. It inspired me so much that I managed to finish the whole chapter I was working on. Some other times I prefer a quiet environment so I can get lost in my own world and write.

I always listen to music when I write. Without it I can't get into the story. On Pandora I have different music genres to go with what ever I'm writing about.

I certainly do listen to music while I write! I am currently writing a novel and I use songs to fit the occasion I am writing of in my novel. It really helps boost the imagination!

Most times I have to have music in order to write or else I don't feel inspired. It has to be music without lyrics, else I am unable to concentrate. Trying to write while someone is rapping in the background is pretty distracting. I like instrumental music, music that sometimes feels like it is telling you a story. I feel like it empowers my writing. I tend to write better with music than without.

Often, :) I find movie soundtracks really inspiring for writing. But then sometimes I like silence too.

If I have any music, it had to be very low when I write. Any other time, I have to have music.
