Silver's Bane by Ashli & Trisha Edwards is a paranormal romance novel about a forbidden love between a vampire and a werewolf. Set in the small fictional town of Aboit, Maine, the story kicks off with a heated altercation between the vampires and werewolves. After the altercation, the Alpha of the werewolf pack has a bruised ego. He becomes determined to rid the town of vampires, saying that they are a danger to the town’s citizens. What he doesn’t know is that the vampires in Aboit cherish human life; they find the human blood that nourishes them elsewhere. The werewolf Alpha sets his sights on Juliana (Jules), the leader of the vampire coven. He plans to kill her as soon as he finds her.

What the Alpha doesn't know is that Jules is right under his nose; she is the librarian at Aboit’s high school. Her best friend is a human, and she works with humans every day. Jules agrees to go with her best friend on a blind date, where she meets Luca, a werewolf. Luca isn’t just any werewolf; he’s the Beta of the werewolf pack. Sparks fly between Jules and Luca, defying the very essence of their ancestral rivalry.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was a light and fun-hearted story that was easy to devour over the course of a weekend. The authors did a great job of creating the small town of Aboit, especially the high school, which is central to the plot. The book has a nice balance of the vampire and werewolf cultures intertwined with the day-to-day existence of both groups as they interact with humans. As a supernatural novice, I learned a lot about the lives, habits, and quirks of both groups.

While I really enjoyed the plot of the book and the characters, the text in the book itself could use a good proofreader. Many word errors distracted me from the story. There were also a few holes in the plot that were never closed. This book is the first in a series, so maybe the plot gaps will be addressed in the next book.

I rate Silver's Bane 4 out of 5 stars. The story is reminiscent of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, but with a happier ending. I deducted one star for the typos in the text; they were too numerous to not be acknowledged. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy vampire and werewolf societies and the complexities that arise when those societies interact with humans. This lighthearted read will appeal to fans of paranormal romance and would be appropriate for young adult readers and adults alike. With a perfect blend of supernatural elements, heartwarming romance, and a dash of tension, this book is a delightful addition to the genre.

The review was well written, honest, and captivating. I'm into paranormal romance and a Romeo and Juliet-like story. I will give this book a try.Well done.

Romance is not my thing but a novel that goes deep into the depiction of vampire and werewolf societies seems interesting to me. Thank you for your great review!
