I'm not that much a fan of historical fiction, but this sounds intriguing. Battles for basic human rights and their conquerors are always interesting to look at. Good review

I once came across a post that highlighted the medical ignorance when it came to menstruation, pregnancy and any other major health issues related to women. There was a comment under this that mentioned how medical science would've been so advanced if these issues were faced by men today, and it really got me thinking. Learning about Candy's devastatingly traumatic abortion experience only shows how women are still suffering to date, and sadly, the only response doctors have is, "It is what it is". Nonetheless, congrats on the BOTD!

This is the story of women all over the world, and it is also a reminder that tragedy shouldn't hold us back. It teaches lessons about parenting and being a positive influence in society.

Parents should consider the happiness of their kids and stop forcing certain opinions on them. Candy had good ambitions for her life, but unfortunately, she had to overcome society's norms to achieve them. Gender equality is needed, and society's norms should not hinder women from chasing their dreams. Congratulations to the author on BOTD!

The narrative explores themes of resilience, determination, and breaking free from conventions. The story offers a mix of emotional depth and social commentary.

Even though normally I would be over the moon about a free Historical Fiction book, unfortunately I knew I would have to pass this one at first glance on the cover. Nothing personal, I had to spend a lot of time in hospital as a child and since then I have developed an intolerance for all things medical. Apologies and still congrats on BOTD!

Children should get encouragement from their parents to pursue what they like instead of parents forcing their plans on them. Thanks for the amazing review.

Candy was a victim of an unhygienic procedure, which can be disastrous. It's extremely inspiring how she chose to persevere in spite of all the obstacles. I'm sure she'll succeed in her new field. Congrats to the author on BOTD!

From the storyline, Candy is a strong woman who wasn't deterred by the sour experiences she had. She remained resilient to pursue her dreams. I admire such single minded decision. Congratulations on the book of the day and a well written review.

Great review! This sounds like an interesting book. Unfortunately, abortion is one of today's topics that people are fighting over.

I don't think I've ever read a book that addresses the topic of illegal abortion. That is just horrific what women had to go trough, and what Candy went through in this book. A young woman trying to find her path in the men's world is a theme that is not new for historical fiction genre, but it is nevertheless interesting.

Thank you for your wonderful review.

I enjoyed reading your descriptive and well-written review. I was looking forward to reading the book. To think about the unfortunate termination of Candy's pregnancy and the resulting hysterectomy was painful. Many women who have experienced this trauma will understand the guilt and pain that Candy will probably carry for the rest of her life. Although historical fiction, I want to read this book to learn how things turn out in her aspirations to help other women. Congratulations on the BOTD!

The book sounds interesting and Candy's life was really hard. But the book describes too much pain and suffering both physical and emotional for my taste. Still I'm sure the book will find its reader. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!
