The cover attracted me. I can already guess there's action in the book, which is among my favorite genres. I will add it to my next reading list because I am interested in what the fight is all about and Thoral's adventures.

Well, this really sounds like quite a farctasy, whatever that is... I wouldn't mind to get to know the talking fish who breathes air, though. And this sounds like something I would enjoy, especially since you said the farce did not get boring at any point. Thank you for your very interesting review!

Fish Wielder by J.R.R.R. Hardison offers a refreshingly unique twist on fantasy. Thoral's quirky adventures, mixed with battles and farcical elements, create an engaging narrative. The author adeptly balances humor and quality writing, resulting in an entertaining and surprisingly well-executed story.

I don't think much of fantasy in literature and its combination with ‘farce’ in this book would seem to tend toward frivolity. Yet I'm curious about how this makes ot unique.

Thank you for your excellent review. The sample I read bears out everything you describe about mixing humor and fantasy. I like your description of the book as a "farctasy" because it does mix farce and fantasy. As I read, I struggled with describing the book and the writing, but you did a superb job. Thoral is quite the protagonist with his pouches, his fish friend - a koi - and his magical sword. I doubt I'll read the entire book without being anywhere close to my genre (C,M,S,H). But I must admit that I was entertained by the portion I read. I am curious about the search for the Pudding of Power, and his encounter with the Heartless One. I must admit that it is funny and very creative. Kudos to the author on BOTD!

As the story unfolds, Thoral and Brad face numerous challenges, battling the Bad Religion and the Dark Brotherhood while pursuing the elusive Pudding of Power. Despite his frequent near-death experiences, Thoral's combination of strength and luck propels him through the tale. The impending encounter with the Heartless One raises the stakes even higher, leaving readers wondering if even Thoral can emerge victorious.

Hilarious! This is my type of books. Ones that don't take themselves seriously yet take their readers very seriously. This is definitely my type of read. Wonderful, wonderful review.

I'm not sure how I feel about the combination of farce and fantasy. There's definitely a lot going on with Thoral. I'll probably skip this book.
