The foul play seems to play its role intriguingly in this thrilling story, and the disappearance of Tammy proves that. I'm eager to know who plays this intriguing role and how the events unfold in this fictitious story.

I became more and more intrigued as I started to learn about the characters from the sample I read. I think the reviewer did a very good job. Maybe mentioning the fact that Tammy is the one who goes missing could be a spoiler? (she may not be the murder victim though)

Wonderful addition to the BOTD list. Seems a worthwhile read to me. Well done on the detailed review 4 out of 4 from me.

Daniel Pascoe seems to be a creative fiction writer. It is interesting that "It’s less of a whodunnit than a “can they get away with it." You have written the review well giving your experience of reading the book.
Congratulations on the BOTD!

The novel appears to be a captivating mystery with a unique take on the concept of the "perfect couple." Arnie and Tammy, who seem ideal, actually hide inner unhappiness and resentment. Daniel Pascoe's "Fair Game Foul Play" delves into the apparently serene life of the Westlakes, challenging our perceptions of concealed truths. The tense plotline offers an engaging narrative, particularly appealing to fans of cozy crime stories. The book portrays a relatable family façade that harbors underlying deceit and eventually leads to murder. The story's intrigue lies in its departure from the typical pattern of presenting perfection before revealing a murder. While the pacing seems a bit leisurely initially, the anticipation is that it will pick up. Pascoe's creativity shines through in this thought-provoking work, which focuses less on identifying the culprit and more on whether they can evade justice. Your review effectively captures your reading experience and insightfully highlights the author's intentions.

Ooh, I love how the story will be going.
It reminds me a little of "Gone Girl". Does it have the same intensity and the twist? I guess I have to read it on my own to figure it out. :techie-studyingbrown: Thanks for your honest review.

Thank you for your informative review. I thought it sounded like an interesting read and I did enjoy Murder, She years ago, but it seemed long winded to me today. Perhaps it's just me today, but I think I will pass on it. It's true, we never know what a person is truly like behind closed doors.

This review gave my a bit of whiplash. I expected to not want to read the book based on “a third of the text could be edited out”, and then it hits you with “for readers who enjoy ‘Murder She Wrote’” and now I’m dying to read it.

This seems like a story full of twists and turns. I hope Tammy's past doesn't affect the quiet and admirable life she has with her husband. I also hopes her husband found her well and unharmed after she went missing!
Insofar as the word 'should' even has meaning, then we must say that the past is exactly as it should be, everything that happened should have happened, and everything that should happen will happen

Mary annef gives the potential reader of Fair game Foul play a good summary of the relationship between Arnie and his wife Tammy. Reference is made towards the perception that this couple may be seen by others as having a good and comfortable life together, while in reality they harbour resentment for each other. Arnie wants to retire from his mundane job, while Tammy has just come into contact with her estranged daughter whom she had given up for adoption. What happens to their relationship prior to Tammy's disappearance? I am interested in reading this book.

I'm not sure about this novel. The storyline sounds fantastic but I struggle with books that have meaningless details to add length. I will give it a try and hopefully finish but will update either way. Thank you for such a well written review.

The review gave me a balanced sense of what this book is about, including the couple's irritation with each other being introduced from the beginning. There is a question as to whether this was better or worse than slowly introducing their faults and conflicts. The mystery aspect of Tammy disappearing interests me because then there is something to wonder about. Were her and Arnie's golf partner involved? Did something happen with the daughter who looked her up since she was adopted and wanted to meet her birth mother? Unfortunately, the sample I read I found less than engaging, and with the aspects that caused the reviewer to give it 3 of 4 stars, I'll pass on this one. A book that drags even a little gives me pause and I suspect from the review it drags quite a bit. And honestly, I'm not a fan of Murder She Wrote, so I will probably pass on this one. Cozy mysteries are not my favorite.

Congratulations to the author on BOTD! I can already see that Ben and Tammy's secret meetings point the finger at them, suggesting that they must have been involved in Arnie's missing wife. I will find out from the book if it's true. It's a "cozy crime" novel. I hope I'll enjoy it.

Thanks for the honest review, I usually like this kind of story, but the odd character development and the apparent tediousness of parts of the novel may have put me off. I appreciate the heads up.

Fair Game Foul Play by Daniel Pascoe presents a captivating premise that delves into the hidden lives of its characters. The book skillfully builds tension and explores the theme of secrecy. The author's storytelling has the potential for an engaging cinematic adaptation. While some aspects of pace and characterization could be improved, the book's mystery and tension keep readers engaged.
The difference between taking and giving, and taking and not giving is the difference between life and death.
