Albert Camus. I'm moved to the point of tears with his writing and the depth of his themes found throughout his works are astonishing. RIght now I'm actually in the process of completing my collection of his entire works. A brilliant author with decades of work left unfinished that will never come to fruition because of a life cut short.

I can't decide, there are so many I like! My great aunt, Rachel Carson, wrote Silent Spring way before I was born, and I loved reading it. I like Stephen King books, too.

So many!
But my all time favorite would have to be Khaled Hosseini. The books A Thousand Splendid Suns and The Kite Runner were simply amazing. Must Reads!

Sylvia Day is my current favorite author. Although the books she writes should be for ages 18+.

I can't everyday name a favourite author as my favourite changes pretty much with every book I read, which led me to decide there is no favourite author for me. To be honest, most of the books I read are pretty good. I read 'The God Of Small Things' followed by 'Catcher in the Rye' after 'Lady Chatterley's Lover' which are all great books. That is part of the reason why I have a really hard time choosing.

But recently, as I have decided to start SciFi, and picked Asimov as my No.1 and am still going through a marathon of Foundation and Empire series, he inevitably became my favourite author. :) But to me, there is something that makes Asimov different for me. Maybe it is because his books aren't about what you can see everyday. For example in End of Eternity, we aren't only presented with a good character and a universal moral dilemma but also with that Asimov element that just makes you go "Did that just happen!?" And to continue with the Foundation (the novel), it was literally unlike I had ever read. It is written in 5 parts which were published as seperate stories. But when you read it as a single novel, you are unexpectedly hit with 'The Asimov Effect' so many times that you just can't deny the guy is awesome.

What makes Foundation special is that it is the first novel I read that did not rely on its characters to be good. It is so unbelievable to see an author build an entire history. I am currently at 300 FE and still continue to be surprised. Seeing the plot (r)evolve in such a big timespan is definately amazing.

I am intending to start Catch-22 soon, so you might hear me saying 'I love Joesph Heller!' some time soon. But right now, it's Asimov time!

Sue Grafton
She is awesome. I appreciate how much research goes into her alphabet series about Kinsey Milhone. She diligently works with numerous authorities to make the subject matter as real as possible. I also appreciate her attention to detail and character development. These are only a few things I can express in words that I love about her books and writing. She is truly an author I wish to some day emulate.

My favorite author is Stephen King. I got hooked on him when I was a kid. But I love to read any and everything, horror, romance, mystery, crime, non fiction and anything else I can get my hands on. As long as the writer is good then I will enjoy the book but I can not remember author names. I guess I have a short circuit somewhere.
