It's summer, and the moon and the stars are at their best, filling Bouncing Baby Barn with mesmerizing natural sights and making it difficult for the critters, goats, ducks, and chickens to leave these natural thrills to get to bed. The owner of the barn follows them around, switching between pleas and yells. It will be a long time.

This is one funny children's story that got me giggling all through, especially in scenes like Meagan's wink and the blurt of "nopes" from the ducks, chickens, and goats. It was really exciting to read about the furred and feathered animals expressing their sensations of pleasure and admiration for natural wonders. I loved the twists and turns that came with getting the critters to bed; the ending reaffirms the bond of love between the owner and the critters.

Get to Bed!, a children's story written by Catherine Ann Russell, is presented in the form of poetry. Catherine earned my admiration with the simple word choices made in this story and the use of such poetic devices as rhymes and alliteration in a way that was thrilling and simple enough for the kids' comprehension of the story. One of the poetic aesthetics prevalent in the book can be seen in these lines:
"A final burst of sunrays
Bathe the sky in bright displays.
Pink and orange and red and blue
Paint the sky in light and hue" (page 3).

Apart from its entertainment value, this book also doubles as learning material. For example, children will get to learn some distinct information about the critters, like the specific words used to describe the sounds goats, ducks, chickens, owls, and kitties make. A great job was done with the illustrations for this story. I was also impressed with the exceptional editing done in this book; I didn't find any grammatical errors in it.

Get to Bed! receives a well-deserved five out of five stars. This rating was based on the book's simple, intriguing storyline, the aesthetics of the poetic devices used, and the thorough editing done in it. I don't have anything negative to report about this book, so there is no reason to deduct any stars from the rating. This fun story is recommended to readers between the ages of five and seven. Parents can also do their kids under five a big favor by picking up this book and reading it aloud to them just before bedtime.
