The first book in the "We Are Voulhire" series is titled "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" and was written by Matthew Tysz. It is a 27-part fantasy written in both first- and third-person narratives.

Voulhire is a fictional kingdom known globally for its wealth and sorcery. Galen Bray, the protagonist, escapes the land of the princes, where civil wars, famine, and poverty are constant, and moves to Magnum Caelum, a small city in Voulhire, where he takes over his late uncle's business. Lord Meldorath, former Lord of Hillport, is confined to a tower on an island called Lorcia’s Isle by King Wilhelm for his evil deeds, and Lord Eldus is given the responsibility of assisting in the growth of Hillport. How long will Lord Meldorath, the most powerful mage, stay locked up before he unleashes his wrath on Voulhire? Read the book to find out.

Wars, political and socioeconomic unrest, magic, and corruption are the major themes in the book. There are a lot of positive aspects to this book. Firstly, the amount of description the author put into this book is impressive. He describes a large number of people, their roles, and unresolved conflicts. Secondly, a glossary of words, concepts, and names specific to the Voulhire universe was included at the conclusion of the book. Thirdly, a map is also provided at the start of the novel to help readers picture the Voulhire kingdom. The narrative was easy to visualize and understand thanks to the author's comprehensive breakdown. Fourthly, the personalities were expertly created. I adore how comparable Galen Bray's character is to someone who has just arrived in a foreign land. He was open to learning. However, his naivety makes him learn even from his uncle’s executor, Rowan. I was impressed by how suspenseful the first novel in the series was, and I think it is worth it to be a TV show. Thanks to the alternating perspectives, I was able to know Galen’s thoughts.

There is only one minor setback, and that is how slow the book is. I think it was intentionally dragged out to make room for more books in the series. This, however, did not stop me from enjoying the book. The book was well-edited, and I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

I recommend this book to sci-fi and fantasy lovers. This book is full of adventures and will resonate with teenagers who can tolerate violence and profanity.
