Cajun Crow and the Mockingbird is a story of injustice, lost love, and the battle of a young attorney who risks everything to combat hatred and find love in the segregated South.

In the 1950s and 60s, the threat of communism galvanized Americans. During the height of the Red Scare, unapologetic white supremacist politicians fighting to preserve segregation launched a series of highly publicized hearings in New Orleans, alleging that the civil rights movement was a communist conspiracy dedicated to overthrowing the government. Inspired by these events, Cajun Crow and the Mockingbirdis a fictional story about a rookie New Orleans mob lawyer, Noel Corbin, who defends an innocent Black teen, Gasper Babineaux, unjustly accused of being a communist provocateur. Representing his first innocent client, the morally dented attorney learns powerful lessons about redemption, morality, love, and God. The book tackles weighty social issues with a light, straightforward touch.

I like historical fiction, and I'm always eager to learn something new about different cultures. This novel delves into the Cajun culture, having characters that seek to make a difference like Noel's mother, which I greatly admire, making this novel an interesting read for me. Thanks for this engaging review!

The story has a lot of life lessons and only those who have survived in hard times can relate and those going through struggles will find this novel very educative. Great review.

So much mystery... The review picked my curiosity about the cajun people, which I never heard of before. And I am also wondering why Noel 'has so many ennemies'. The review made sure to not give away anything, we will have to read the book to find out.

To my shame, I must admit that I don't know much about Cajun culture and traditions, even though I really enjoy their cuisine. Therefore, I will definitely welcome the insight this book can provide and hope to be more prepared for my travel plans next year! Congratulations with BOTD!

"Cajun Crow and the Mockingbird" by Jimmie Martinez tells the story of Noel 'Crow' Corbin. Noel was born to Cajun parents and the game of fate will lead him to New Orleans. The book is professionally edited.

"Cajun Crow and the Mockingbird" by Jimmie Martinez. An interesting book, talks about Noel his parents Edgar Corbin and Ella Mae de Valcourt, living in the island of Bon Terre. Noel wants to marry his childhood friend Corinne Thibodeaux. I love the author's way of writing and giving of details. Congrats on your #BOTD.

Thank you for your thorough review of, Jimmie Martinez's 'Cajun Crow and the Mockingbird. It was well rounded by telling of the backdrop the history of Cajun life like was back then in comparison to today's society. The most interesting part to me was when Corbin took the case of defending Black teenager Gasper Babineaux. I look forward to reading this book for all the highlights of Noel "Crow" Corbin and the outcome of the trial especially. Congratulations for BOTD.

This fiction novel has a strong emphasis on the legal system and the Cajun people. It even contains a Preface to explain the history involved with Cajuns. I especially appreciate this as it is highly educational as well as fun to read. Congrats on the BOTD!
