Cooking & Screaming, a food memoir

Post by Maureen »

I just finished "Cooking & Screaming" by Adrienne Kane and I had to post about it! I loved "Eat, Prey, Love" and "Julie and Julie" and this book is the latest addition to the list of favorite food memoirs. The author was just two weeks away from graduating from Berkley when she suffered an AVM that left the entire right side of her body paralyzed. She discusses the various therapies she tried, and how she discovered cooking was the remedy she had been looking for. It's an extremely inspirational sotry, accompanied by delicious recipes at the beginning of every chapter. This is a MUST READ!

I'm so glad you posted this. My husband suffered a severe stroke a while ago so he can't do the things he used to do and we've been looking for something that he is able to do that he would enjoy. It sounds like this book might be what we need. He used to like to cook and try different recipes but we have been busy trying to move and haven't had a chance to see if we could get back to cooking. Now that we have moved I would like to read this book and see if it can help.
