Review of Worlds
Worlds: The King’s Pawn by Mike Cahill is a book that talks about the different worlds in the Zynon galaxy. This sci-fi depicts a world of great power outside Earth, where powerful artificial intelligence exists and is at the disposal of the inhabitants of these worlds.
In this book, the lives of the species that live outside of Earth are brought into view as we see how they live and survive over there. This book is written mostly from the point of view of Coranthas, who calls it his chronicles as he writes and explains all the events that occur in the book. The friends of this book embark on adventures and explorations that include quantum mechanics, quantum physics, dark matter, and the lives of the sentients in the Zynon galaxy. As you read the book, topics like consciousness and existence are pondered, amongst other self-awareness topics.
I appreciated a few things in this book, the first being the character of Coranthas. I really enjoyed reading his chronicles, which were the most enjoyable parts of the book. Again, I loved the sense of humor of the author, especially that displayed in the characters of Coranthas and Froth Lord; it gave me a good laugh. Lastly, I really appreciated the scientific terminologies in the book; they were really educational and enlightening. They expanded my mind and imagination.
However, there were a few things I disliked about the book. Despite the book being very enlightening and educational as per its scientific aspects, not all the scientific terminologies were explained thoroughly; this may cause difficulties for first-time readers of sci-fi who may want to try this genre for the first time with this book. There were also some occurrences that took place in the book that were not attended to, which paved the way for loopholes in the book, one example being the dark force in Coranthas’s dreams and his sudden madness. Readers were not given adequate reasons and explanations pertaining to the occurrences of these events.
There were so many errors in the book. This shows that the book was not properly edited. I would rate this book four out of five stars, as it was a wonderful, educational, and imaginative read. I deducted a star from my rating due to the negative aspects aforementioned and the errors I found. Overall, it was a mind-opening and enlightening read. I will recommend this book to lovers of science fiction, readers interested in astronomy, and those enthused by the possibility of extraterrestrial intelligence. They would sure have a fun time reading this book.

But the editing and the loopholes... I don't think I will give it a try, at least not in a close future.
Thank you for your review Chris, I like the way you described the plot and what you liked about this book. Keep up the good work

This started with all the hallmarks of a good read, sorry to hear about the errors and inexplicable science. Your description of quantum everything, dark matter, and sentients with a touch of humor caught my attention for sure. I don't know if I'd pick this one up, even though I don't fall into the category of sci-fi first timer, but I do appreciate you sharing your review!Chris Alex Powell wrote: ↑21 Aug 2023, 10:28 [Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Worlds" by Mike Cahill.]
