Nimue has a pretty somber and dark cover, therefore I wouldn't say that it accurately represents its contents, which take the reader on an extensive journey. There are generally covers that attract my attention, but I'm not put off if they're subpar.

Yes, especially when I'm just browsing in the library or bookstore. The cover is the first thing we see and if it piques my interest, I would pick it up and read the blurb or a few pages to help me decide. But I make exceptions for when others give me their recommendations - then the cover doesn't matter at all!

Simply because a book has a beautiful cover, I frequently purchase it even though I wouldn't ordinarily be that interested in it. Because it pushes me outside of my comfort zone and expands my reading horizons, I think it's excellent!

I’m afraid I do. Cover is the first thing that strikes me. But I would also mention that the best books I have come across in my life did not have an attractive cover. So I try not to judge them by their cover now.

To be honest, the cover is not only important for me, but essential. I'm an aesthetic kind of girl, and my bookshelf has to be the most organized and the most pretty. I even have some of the books with the best covers on display. I'm sorry, but if I see a book with an ugly cover in a bookstore I don't even bother reading the blurb. I know it's wrong, but it's just the way I am. (I usually get the uglier books on kindle)

I 100% admit to judging books by their covers. I like pretty, artsy book covers. Sue me. I thought that the book cover for Nimue was perfect for the story since it hinted at what it was about without giving too much away. And it just looked pretty nifty.

Yes, if I'm not looking to read anything specific, I often look at the covers and then choose. It's the first thing that draws my attention.

The cover can grab my attention, but not every time. I always try to make my decision based on the description though. I did like the cover for this one. It looked very mysterious and dark, which makes sense after reading it.

A book cover can spark curiosity, but I can't express full judgment solely based on the cover. I also read the book description and the inside cover before continuing to read the book.

Omneya Shakeep wrote: 04 Sep 2023, 05:18 Yes, I do. The cover is the first thing that draws me to a book, and then I check the synopsis to see if I would like it. The title is another crucial aspect in picking a book for me, as it usually indicates the author's writing skills. I believe Nimue's cover matches perfectly with the book. The Celtic drawing seems mysterious and holds dark secrets.
I never thought about it that way, but this makes total sense. Yes, I agree the cover is dark and somber, solely based on looks. However, usually, there is a reason the author/publisher chose this cover in particular, and I am always curious to find out. Great insight, Omneya.

Sometimes I do judge it by its cover. Most times people tend to shy away from books with dull covers, because we think the content is also unappealing. However, I have been proven wrong on some occasions where I had read a book with a boring cover but the storyline was amazing.

I definitely judge books by cover even though I try not to. I try to give a chance to ugly covers too, if the description sounds interesting enough, but you can definitely get my attention with a nice cover.

The cover for Nimue instantly made me think tradicional arthurian fantasy and it also gave some historical accuracy vibes. Therefore I was bit surprised when I saw it's happening also in modern age and involves time travel. It is a good cover, though.

Even though I may want to deny it, I always do judge a book by the cover before I get them. I'm not talking about the general application of the saying but regarding books I do judge books by the cover. The cover will be the deciding point on if I get to buy a book or not. Nimue has a very different cover from the actual content of the book!

I know one of the first things were taught in life is to not judge a book by its cover, but I really do. I think if a book has a boring/dull cover, I'd be less inclined to read it.
