"Facts check out". That would be nice! In this age of disinformation, I do not want to be influenced by false narratives. In addition, I really love History. Truthful unbiased History! Then again, will the point of view of the different characters check out with reality? I hope so. That would be a point to consider. If not, it is still a fiction after all and perhaps understandable. But from the review, the story has a message and I could guess that it would be filled with values and human emotions. Light hearted delivery of message but exciting to read. Nice!

Throughout the story, readers learn the medical practices of the late eighteenth century alongside Jeremy and Roger, many of which, although cutting edge at the time, are now obsolete. But as primitive as those tools and techniques seem now, they saved lives, and their presentation here provides a fascinating glimpse at the evolution of medicine in America.

This historical fiction from the 17th century seems like an intriguing read. I liked that the writer has made an effort to develop the three protagonists characters well. Each of them has an inspiring journey. This book is on my read list. Thanks for the review!

The trio of protagonists adds depth to the narrative, each character leaving a lasting impression. Doc Thorndike's radical personality challenges norms, Roger Poole exudes resilience, and Jeremy's journey is just one piece of a compelling puzzle. The interwoven fates create a rich tapestry, making this book a promising read.

I have read quite a bit of war-centered novels. One thing is sure, war is hard on everyone. Hence, I appreciate that the author captured the characters' emotional dilemmas well while still maintaining factual accuracy.

I'm captivated by the vivid portrayal of 1775 in "The Shot Not Heard Around the World." The author brilliantly captures the internal struggle of a boy thrust into war, shifting focus from violence to the complexities of decision-making. It's a refreshing take on historical fiction.

The attention to detail in this review echoes the meticulous writing in the book. Charlie Damitz skillfully immerses readers in the 1700s, from daily life to pivotal decisions. The medical aspect adds a unique layer, making it a gripping journey. Short length yet profound impact—definitely on my reading list!

This sounds interesting and I'll give it a try. War stories aren't always captivating to me, but I think this one might be different. Thanks for an insightful review.

I'm not really into historical fiction but your review makes me want to read it, love that it has the point of view of both the aggressors and the defenders.

A historical fiction that talks about the story of a boy named Jeremy who starts preparing for the time when he will partake in war by hunting squirrels and rabbits, but later discovers that hunting humans is another different ball game. The author's writing style is conversational, and the characters are well-developed. Nice review.

I'm not a huge lover of historical fiction books but I would like to read about the American Revolutionary War and the medical advancement of that age. Again, the character of Doc. Thorndike catches my attention. I congratulate the author on #BOTD!
