I used to write all my pieces by hand, but I started getting cramps kind of like arthritic pains, and eventually, the pain got so unbearable that I moved on to typing. I still get them if I write too long, or if it's really cold, but I can't just hold off on my writing, so I push through it.

I sometimes write a section by hand if I'm away from the computer and I always do all my notes and plans by hand in notebooks. But the main text is always typed up so I know where I am with sections and wordcounts.

Since Cancer I haven't had much of a choice. My pen (or pencil) and ink days are past. It has taken a significant amount of adjustment, but now I prefer using my laptop.

I do all of my brainstorming by hand. That way I can lay all the pages out and organize my thoughts when I sit down to write. When I do my actual writing, though, I only type. Writing it out and then having to type it into my computer is too much hassle.

I have started using a micro-recorder for the brainstorming though :)

Yep. Sometimes I quickly write down some notes in a notebook, but otherwise, I always use the computer.

I write various ways. Sometimes I write on my writing app, sometimes on the computer, other times on paper. It depends what I've got in front of me at the moment. :)

I seem to go back and forth. Sometimes I start writing on the computer and my thoughts can flow on the page pretty quickly. Whenever I get writer's block (or if I don't know how to move into the next section), I've found that switching over to a pen and notebook get the juices flowing again. It's the same if I start out with a pen and some paper but can't get a good introduction to come out; if I move onto the computer it tends to flow.

I think it can sometimes have to do with being (for lack of a better term) bored of the method (i.e. computer) because I've been doing it for so long or I am intimidated by where the cursor is on the page. When you switch to something new (i.e. your favorite journal) it provides something different for my eyes to look at and my hands to do. In a way, it is almost like "rebooting" my mind so I can take off again.

I'm usually only on the computer, except when I don't have it readily available. My handwriting becomes so terrible because I try to write so fast. My typing also suffers, but I have spell check for that. I do hate it when people try to read what I'm writing, whether paper or computer, so I mainly write when I'm alone.

I do when I can, but when I'm on the go, I'm always fine with using my iPad.

I prefer to write on paper, this way I have an original copy of my work if something were to go wrong on the computer.

Write by keyboard, plan by hand.
