What a great review, it makes me want to pick it up instantly. Even though it is set in a very isolated setting, there is something almost cosy murder/mystery coming from this book and I look forward to picking it up.

One of the standout features of the book is how it seamlessly integrates technical details about drilling in the oil industry. Lerma strikes a perfect balance, making it accessible to readers unfamiliar with the subject while also keeping it engaging for those who want to delve deeper into the workings of an oil well. The characters, especially Charlie, are well-developed, and her role as a strong female lead is commendable. The book is not only a great choice for mystery enthusiasts but also for anyone looking for a captivating story with a unique backdrop.
Sincerely,
Sondang :tiphat:

This is such an interesting concept. I'm really eager to check it out! I love good 'whodunit' murder mysteries. I would also like to learn more about oil rigging, because why not?
Thank you for this amazing review! You really did a good job at highlighting this book's best traits.

This sounds like an intriguing murder mystery on the going-ons in in the oil exploration industry. I hope the story involves sea cruises because I like reading about that. Thanks for the review.

This is a mystery book that talks about how Charlie, a female oil rig manager, discovers a dead body that was detected to be the body of the wife of one of the senior members of Triple Play, Frank. This is what led to Charlie's findings of what caused the death. The characters are well-developed, and the book is well-written. Nice review.

I would love mystery stories. And I think I would enjoy knowing a little about oil drilling. It is also good that the review mentioned that it could be read in one or two afternoons. I think I would also like to evaluate clues, if any, and make guesses along the way. That would be a challenge for me. On the other hand, I would also like to be surprised (and fooled) by the distractions. However, stories that portray the main character as out of the ordinary turn me off. Whether the main character is a man or a woman, if she or he is not mortal or too perfect to be true, she or he becomes not true. For me, the story becomes out of touch with reality, and sometimes the gallantness and wonder of the story are diminished as a result, my meager opinion. I hope the main character is not a "Wonder Woman". Alternatively, character development should be complete for me to accept perfection. Let us see. Still nice!

I appreciate your insights into the mystery aspect of the book. It's impressive that the identity of the killer remained a secret until the end, which is a hallmark of a well-executed murder mystery. Congrats on BOTD!

A strong female lead?
A murder mystery?
Getting a glimpse into the workings of an oil well?
I must say this is a book I should read!
Thank you for the review.
