I thoroughly enjoyed reading Thriving in the Storm by William Murphy. The author has a captivating way of sharing his lived experiences in this book, and as a result it was a motivating and uplifting read. Whilst reading each page, I began to feel like I knew the author, and could connect with the story he shared. The topics covered were interesting and well presented, and I enjoyed how each chapter had a specific area of focus. There were plenty of exercises to complete whilst reading the book, which supported a continuous and deeper self reflection on how Murphy’s tips could be applied within my own life.

The authors writing style in this book felt informal yet meticulously thought out, and it was easy to follow the authors train of thought. There was no bad language or sexual content, and I did not notice any typos. The whole book felt friendly, yet professional and polished.

Overall, I would highly recommend this book, and would give a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. I feel that it would be perfect for people who might have faced challenges in their lives, and need some down to earth support to cope with this. The only reason I did not score this book 5 out of 5 stars is because at times, some of the personal stories were a little long winded. However, the advice given was excellent, and I felt that this could really support people to make positive steps in their own lives.
