Amidst this environmental quest, the group wins a contest, which leads to an exciting tour of Tsavo National Park in Nairobi, Kenya. Tsavo National Park promises thrilling encounters with lions, leopards, and elephants. However, their expedition encounters a twist. Readers are invited to delve further to discover the outcome!
The addition of Thoreau's character adds an extra layer of intrigue to the story. Being the youngest in the group, he grapples with nightmares involving a monstrous garbage entity chasing him, and he exhibits a natural wariness of the unknown, particularly in the nocturnal hours.
One of the highlights of the story is its rich diversity, not only in the narrative but also in its characters. The group includes Zoom, who is African American, and Einstein, who is Asian American. Additionally, the incorporation of different languages and dialects serves as an encouragement for young readers to explore new languages.
The episode set in Tsavo National Park stands out as the most exhilarating part of the story. Here, the kids cross paths with Bertha, a formidable elephant who fiercely defends her kind against heartless poachers. This part of the story conveys a powerful message against poaching and its detrimental impact on wildlife.
The character of Boss Mackan represents the epitome of greed, prioritizing money at the expense of both people and marine life. He doesn't hesitate to compromise on quality to save costs. Despite their youth, Tracey, Thoreau, Dee Jay, Einstein, Skateboard, and Zoom demonstrate remarkable courage, risking their lives to unveil the truth behind the illegal garbage dumping.
I would gladly award "Kids Can Change The World" by Ben Goldstein a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. The book presents a compelling narrative without notable flaws, and it is meticulously edited. I recommend it to young readers interested in stories that champion environmental awareness and investigative adventures.

I am peaked in interest by the beautiful setting and the diversity and exposure to different dialects.
The suspenseful plot and strong characters are an added bonus.
This book certainly lives up to its title!
