Aside from being a thriller, the novel has an on-going undercurrent of philosophy woven into it. The book encourages the reader to consider weighty topics of racism, prejudice, ethics, morality, and above all the struggle to reconcile heart and mind when faced with such a complex dilemma.

Yes. I believe that the book had an in-depth view of our justice system. Sometimes it doesn't work in your favor, even though you are the innocent victim. The big corporate institutions have a lot of power and money behind them and the little guy is treated unfairly.

We learn the intricate details of how the judicial system works. We learn a lot of ethical and moral values from this story. The emotions throughout the book are a striking feature for me. It's about how one's greed takes over the issue at hand. Readers can connect to the characters and the socio-economical plight of the plaintiff. This book tells us that there is hope and to have faith in the judicial system.

Oh, it's so much more than a thriller. I kept getting disturbed by just how despicable some lawyers can be. Of course, the underlying race issue was a constant. I firmly believe, despite all the 'protests', that Dave Thompson was solely chosen for the defence as he was a black lawyer.

Hi, Scott, yes, the book is also educational. I am learning a lot about tires. I have changed the tires on my and my family's cars hundreds of times. I never knew that tires are made out of different kinds of rubber that are heated to blend together. I have always thought that getting a plug put in a hole in my tire was a safe option. Not!!
