This book details the life of the author from childhood to adulthood. The situations that she encountered shaped her mindset at a young age. One should not link a genuine human response to childhood trauma and make light of a person's emotions. Your review holds true that the absenteeism of parents can send the child on a different trajectory. This is a book for every parent to read so that they can do better for their child.

Ashley Becker-Whipple narrates with amazing detail life, from childhood to adulthood and all of the struggles that came with it. An honest story that teaches about caring and doing better. This is the book you could resonate with.

We all are a product of the upbringing of our parents. I appreciate the mention that we all are fallible as humans; this is a statement of humility. I also loved the flow of the story and the simple vocabulary. Thank you for writing a captivating review!

Thank you for your insightful review on, The "Journey of an American Woman" by Ashley Becker-Whipple. I do agree with you that parents need to be aware of the people they have around their children especially of men when they have a daughter. That is not to say that there is no risk to a son. Bringing up children is the number one role in a parents life. A child, such as Xandria, becomes aware of their relationship with their parent quickly good or bad and learns from that how to act and grow up. If not watched carefully or there is a communication problem between parent and child like in this story, confusion and a bad outcome can be the result if the child continues to know only that way. I am interested in reading the rest of Xandria's memoir which is why I put it on my shelf.

Ashley Becker-Whipple's engrossing book, The Journey of an American Woman, delves into life's uncertainties and the author's personal development. Furthermore, it appears that Xandria, another character in the statement, encountered difficulties that were out of her control and that these encounters left a lasting impression on her. I'm sure this will be a fascinating read. I appreciate your review.

Listening and not actually hearing is the biggest problem that children today face with their parents, due to fast paced lives and a high cost of living. Unfortunately, this leads to children growing up with self-esteem and mental health issues. It's nice that Xandria heals, discovers herself, and takes us readers on her journey so that we can learn how to do that as well.

All childhood memories always make an impact in every person in the family especially when all grow throw a different events (good or bad ones) and being the youngest one in the family it might takes two ways first way being pampered or being the lonely one ..

I think that the author had written all her feelings towards that in very simple way that can touch the heart and make the reader wants to continue with deep understanding for her Journey.

I don't typically read memoirs. However, I checked out a few pages of the book and the author has a nice writing style that, I believe, readers of memoirs will enjoy. Congrats to her on her achievement.

The review made me want to read this book. The book sounds really interesting, especially because it talks about the relationship between parents and children, in this case, mother and daughter. One of the best books I've ever read is The Namesake, and it's also about growth and family relationship, but it's about a man. As a woman, I think this book will be interesting to see how the author portrays how women raise women, and all the difficulties that we share. I really want to read the book, and I was thinking about the negative aspects of the book is "the way the author's mother was shown to deal with sensitive issues concerning Xandria", but I think it's also important to portray mothers (and parents in general) that do not act like we expect and hope, caring and protecting the children. I think it's important to talk and write about that to show how not all the relationships between mothers and daughters are fine, or even healthy. Furthermore, I'm really looking forward to reading The Journey of an American Woman.
