Review of Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book
Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book by Kalliope Barlis is a handbook with a list of instructions and guidance to become a good golfer in a quick amount of time.
There is another book authored by Kalliope Barlis herself stating the tips and tricks needed to be a pro golfer but briefly and descriptively, unlike this book. Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book is a kind of handbook, which is to be kept in the bag and carried around and opened and read whenever the reader feels low and needs inspiration or any tip. The book starts with 5 pieces of advice to use the book right from buying it. Overall, the book is divided into three parts. The first part is all about Neurolinguistic Programming, i.e. training our minds to think desirably so that we can play and obtain the results better. The second part deals with practicing the game. The author believes that perfection comes from playing and taking risks on the ground. Strategies for the same are listed here. Further, the third part lists the techniques to put the golf ball in the hole. A step-by-step routine is provided here.
It was so thoughtful of the author to clarify in the starting itself that this book contains some knowledge that was omitted in the previous book. Else readers like me, who have already read the previous one, would have skipped this book considering it just a synopsis. The language used by the author to explain her strategies is so easy and simple that anyone can become a pro-golfer if he follows them sincerely. I dote on the way the author has guided the visualization process. It was so accurate and helped me feel as if it were happening to me. Scientific base is provided in the book. This has made it even more worth reading. The author has provided a short questionnaire at the start of the third part. I found it quite useful for the player to gain clearance about the kind of game he expects from himself so that he can play accordingly.
I loved it when the author said, 'Every shot is a good shot'. Here, the author has motivated in such a way that one will never feel bad even after having a bad shot. Not only here, this concept of finding positivity in every situation can be applied in all aspects of life. The 15:5 exercise was remarkable. I was even amazed when I read that the author got the idea for this exercise from the show and commercial time pattern. I appreciate her observant nature. The data provided is systematically represented, especially the pointers listing the skills one must improve. I found it considerate enough that the author provided a gold formula for practicing golf at home. Eventually, this turns out to be an evergreen book, as anyone can read it and practice it anywhere to become a pro-golfer. In the third part, the author explains the steps pictorially, making them easy enough to comprehend.
Overall, it was a fantastic read. There was nothing I disliked about the book. Having zero knowledge about golf, reading the book proved acquainted for me. The terms typical to golf are explained in layman's tongue, due to which it was an easy and comprehensible read for me.
The book was exceptionally well edited, as I didn't find any errors or grammatical mistakes. Due to the above-mentioned reasons, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I would love to recommend this book to the readers playing golf. They can use it as a handbook and keep it always with them for further reference.
