Temple square in Salt Lake City at Christmas time. Its considered one of the best displays of Xmas lights in the world, and if youre lucky some nights you can see the Tabernacle Choir performing.

A muffaletta as big as your head thick with olive paste and ice cold sweet tea...strains of Misty being played by an old black man on sax outside the Cafe du Monde...the smell of beignets and a small cloud of powdered sugar rising when the tray arrives...chicory coffee. The outside temperature is 98 degrees and so is the humidity. But the "Hurricanes" go down smooth in the afternoon heat and taste just like fruit punch and the Natchez sits beckoning on the Mississippi

@Suzy. Never been to Elaine's. It is first on my bucket list. Elaine's was one of several venues frequented by
John O'Neill, an FBI agent who died on 9/11 at WTC. God Bless you John. He is the subject of a Frontline done shortly
after the attacks. He is referred to as "The Man Who Knew." He knew the existence of Al-Qaeda after being posted
in Al-Kharg, Saudi Arabia and Yemen(following the attack on the Cole). When Elaine was interviewed by Frontline
for the story she said "John was my favorite. So handsome and full of life. I really miss him." I hope IF I tip a few
at her place, I get to meet Elaine.
Never been to any of the others. I travel a little closer to the ground. Café Vesuvio, City
Lights, and Jazz Workshop in SF are more my style. Tangier, Morocco is my favorite night
out.

Wow. That's too bad. She seemed like an incredibly gracious woman. I've only been in NYC once. I was a frosh
and we had a few at the Top of The Sixes. What a view. Would like to dine at Peter Luger's. Bo Dietl gives it
rave reviews. Lots of NY restaurants have set up shop in LV. Smith and Wollensky, Molitos, Bradley Ogden. Are these
NY eateries or high end franchises? You're the gourmand and will defer to you in all things edible. Top o the morning.

Funny thang, i've traveled all over the world, but unfortunately never to Vegas...

" Gourmand " or Miss Piggy "...same difference...........i haven't had a good steak in this country in eons...last good ones were in Florence, Italy, and Rio where beef is their specialty...( Churrasco places ).....don't forget the Chimichurri sauce....well, if you like Pesto....

My butcher here has Finally going to carry " PRIME ".... " choice " is what the supermarkets sell, expensive and TASTELESS....they removed the " fat " and added antibiotics...............a " lean " steak is an OXYMORON".....Marbling " is everything.......when i want lo-fat i eat cottage cheese... :wink

the only beef more tasteless than the U,S.A., is Mexico...( every other food category is better there )...go figure!

St. Thomas and Martinique...turquoise blue water...sugar white beaches...bougainvillea blooming just outside your door. Paradise. Fresh fruit. Umbrella drinks. Between 80 and 90 degrees. Want to just throw down a beach blanket and bask the day away. It is 18 degrees with snow here in Indiana.

Suzy, I find the beef here very flavorful. The only problem is that you have to eat it shredded, its so tough you might as well take off your shoe and try to eat it.

I would have to say Japan. My husband was stationed there as a Marine for three years and says I would absolutely love it! Then maybe Australia and Ireland, those are just a few places I want to go to. :)

Suzy, Ive never had Mexican goat (as far as I know) altho its a staple in this community. I had some cousins in Idaho who had goats that I had eaten some of, and youre right. The meat was crap. Comparable to well-used gym shoes.

B.H., next time you're in the market there, ask for Cabrito...or go to the next town and mebbee you can find a street food cart w/it already cooked...........

it's called " Cabrito a la Parrilla "/ grilled / or Asada/roasted....

ever eat chicken feet there?...the supermarkets here are catering to an influx of Mexican farm workers, and have begun to carry all the goodies from Mexico that i've missed Soooo much...

1-Tripe ( for Menudo )
2-Chix feet ( makes an OUTSTANDING stock, even better than France's much revered VEAL, but at a fraction of the price )
3.Heavy Crema ( makes the U.S. kind resemble WATER ) a spoon actually stands up in it ...
4-Queso Fresco...
5 Authentic Tortillas
6-Queso Chihuahua
7- Chayote....etc...
