This book seems like a real eye-opener, talking about important environmental issues we need to pay attention to. I'm super curious about this mysterious "Beast" in the story. The whole mystery has got me wondering, what could it be? Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this book. Great review!

“Northern Umbrage” by Dennis Lorenz is a story about environmental pollution. Dr. John Buchanan (Buc), the protagonist takes action on the pulp, paper, power and pollution that is seriously damaging the environment. He became very interested in what was causing dead fish to wash up on the shore in Eagle River, Wisconsin, a town that I visited many times growing up in northern Illinois. While investigating he learned about a beast that resembles a wolf and it is incredibly fast and is terrifying the area for several months. One needs to read this book to learn if the beast has been affected by the toxic pollutants and if Buc is able to find the companies that are polluting the lakes and rivers. This is an excellent mystery with a touch of sci-fi.

After reading your great review, I will definitely add Northern Umbrage to my to-be-read list. Although I am not much of a fan of science fiction, but the other elements of the book you've talked about (mystery, environmental pollution, adventure..) are interesting enough for me to go for it.

Environmental pollution has reached its peak in recent years; we need to create more awareness regarding its harmful effects on everyone and strive towards preserving it. I'm glad that a boom is focused on it and is presented along with action and sci-fi elements to make it more interesting.
