Society has changed since the 50s, but all the changes have not been good. America: Lost in Place will be a great read for me, as this subject has been on my mind as of late. Thanks for the review!

No facts.. just opinions you could hear from most people in an old folks home. I am from the same generation and I hear this thoughtless jibberish from other ‘old’ white men. Leave your Kansas ivory tower and find out how exciting this world really is!

I find it interesting that there are so many choices in these categories that you would think that the government believes that the general public is smart enough to make their own decisions about most things, but choices are highly regulated. Still, Dr. Brickner has done an excellent job bringing them to light. Congratulations on BOTD!

I do agree agree with the author though. There has been more than a slight decline in morality since the 1950s.

Amazing review! So well written and captivating! As someone who has not grown up in the US I think it could be a really enlightening experience, reading the analysis of an elder American man who has witnessed the change of a country. Congratulations on being BOTD I can't wait to read the book.

No doubt your review is very interesting, Joyjim. I sampled this book, and I agree that the analysis of what the life and the society used to be in the 1960-ies and what they have become now is very eye-opening and useful. As you say, the 1960-ies which Dr. Brickner vividly remembers and depicts for us in his book are becoming a closed book for many, and it is enlightening and important to learn from the best and the worst of the history.

Brickner gives his genuine sentiments as he analyzes life during the 1950s and 1960s to introduce time. It seemed like perusing a discussion between my folks and my youngsters as they discuss their similitudes and contrasts in their encounters. Rules for a superior future are incorporated toward the finish of the book. Great job! Extraordinary survey!

Certainly! Exploring the contrasts and similarities between 1960s America and the present is captivating, but the book may not align with your current reading preferences. Your gratitude for the review is appreciated.

It's true that despite the plethora of technological advancements, not all have been positive. It's great that the author shed light on some of these issues. However, I don't read nonfiction, so I'll skip this one.
