This story had a very good plot with mystery and even a bit of romance. The incorporation of parapsychology elements make Dave and Anna's experiences even more interesting. Congrats on BOTD!!

The review provided a comprehensive insight, highlighting both the strengths and weaknesses. I'm eager to explore Dave's journey with Chad and Anna in the book, especially intrigued by the inclusion of paranormal elements.

This book, "Sentinel of the Light: Awakening" by Dennis W Rhoades has a great beginning that pulls the reader in with Dave, a young medical student with pneumonia who has a near death experience and sees the Light and the Dark. When he awakens, he experiences a paranormal green glow with his hands that leads him to further paranormal occurrences. Thank you for your insightful review of this book. Congratulations to the author for BOTD.

From the sample I just read, the prologue of "Sentinel of the Light: Awakening" sets the stage for an intriguing narrative, drawing readers into the life of Dave, a young medical student grappling with both personal and paranormal challenges. The exploration of paranormal occurrences and the involvement of characters like Spud, Anna, and Professor Hamilton add layers to the storyline.

The magic system and the side characters had unique characteristics that made them stand out. The protagonist was great. I enjoy strong feelings, especially when there is progressive growth.

Thank you for your detailed and honest review of "Sentinel of the Light: Awakening" by Dennis W Rhoades. Your thorough exploration of the book's strengths and weaknesses provides valuable insights for potential readers.

It's clear that the prologue had a significant impact on you, creating a sense of urgency and anticipation. The themes of friendship, trust, self-discovery, and the paranormal elements intrigued you, and the connection between the characters added depth to the narrative. However, your observation about the blending of parapsychology and magic without clear distinction is noted, indicating an area where the book might benefit from more clarity.

Congrats on BOTD!
a science fiction fantasy book about David, a medical student who contracted pneumonia & died as a result. He saw the light-black, he heard a voice asking him to make a decision while the doctors worked to bring him back. Many people will love exploring this parapsychology thriller because of its incredibly captivating plot.

This is an interesting and very honest review! I sampled a few pages, and, like you, I was captivated by the urgency and suspense of the doctors trying to save Dave from the septic shock. With this awesome start, it was a surprise to read in your review that the momentum got lost as the story progressed. Nevertheless, I feel intrigued to find out what happened next, it still looks exciting from your review. :)

Excellent review! I hope the author considers your suggestions; they sound clear and to the point. Bravo!

Today's BOTD isn't the one for me, but fans of novels that follow parapsychology, magic, and the paranormal may want to give this one a try. In addition, readers interested in themes that focus on self-discovery, trust, friendship, and trauma will also enjoy this read. Thank you again for the helpful review and great work! :-)

Sci-Fi/Fantasy is my favorite genre, so usually it is a sure guarantee that I will read a book, but unfortunately in this particular case I will have to refrain from the rule, because of a low average rating: 2 out of 4. Apologies, but the forum's recommendations have never stirred me wrong and therefore, despite an interesting plot, I trust opinion based on published reviews more. Hope the second edition will be better and congrats on BOTD!

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful review. The story, focusing on Dave's quest to understand who he is, where he comes from, what powers he has, and what he can do, keeps readers interested. The author does a good job creating Dave as a believable and relatable character who faces different challenges. The part about exploring parapsychology and magic adds interesting layers, making you think about how they fit into today's world. Overall, the reviewer does a great job summarizing the book's strengths, weaknesses, and why the story is interesting. Congrats on #BOTD!

The review highlights the sincere efforts of Dave's close friend, Spud (Charles), who tries to help him understand these strange events but ultimately fails. Seeking answers, Spud turns to Anna, his study partner, who has knowledge and personal experiences in parapsychology. Anna, in turn, introduces Dave to Professor Hamilton, a parapsychology professor at their college. The professor quickly recognizes Dave's extraordinary abilities and guides them further into the realm of parapsychology, leading to physical and mental exhaustion. The consequences of these events ultimately shape Dave's life. Nice review.
