First and foremost, I have diabetes and appreciate the attention coming from someone who also lives with the condition. There are plenty of resources and opinions from doctors or nurses who know very little about the actual lifestyle and struggles. This book delves into an emotional and detailed story of man's journey starting out life behind the eight ball. He is a type 1 diabetic and this story, like many type 1 diabetic stories, has the moment of finding out the condition is present. Ian Tonge's situation is no different. Near fatal circumstances left him at the hospital.

Ian's description and in depth analysis of the diabetic process goes over everything from the ideal sites to administer the medicine to what foods are forbidden and his struggles with avoiding them. His reference to the "notty" foods is rather comical. He peppers in several comic points of relief making it a delightful read.

I found myself struggling with many of the subjects in the book that Ian focuses on. I still struggle. From myself, and all diabetics from around the world, I would like to thank you Ian for being so transparent and helpful.
