Have you tried reading graphic novels. They are great fantasy books and it is a brilliant genre to read.
Also, there is The Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman - everyone I know loves them. "The Princess Bride" by William Goldman is fantastic a real adventure tale with a fantasy edge. Also, Wicked" by Gregory Maguire is fun and enjoyable.
There are 1000's fantasy books and loads of websites dedicated to them.

What is your favourite Sarah Waters novel? Mine is Fingersmith. Have you read the new one The Little Stranger? I was unusually disappointed would be interested in your views.

John Updike wrote a four-book series about an ordinary guy in an ordinary town with an ordinary job and ordinary friends, but an unusual nickname - Rabbit. Yet, Updike wins the Pulitzer for two out of the four books.

Second place goes to Nelson DeMille. Not because he's prolific, but because he rewrites until he's written a great novel. For example, after his The Gold Coast was published in 1990, it took him almost 20 years to write and publish the sequel, The Gate House in 2008.

Like most of us here, we crave a good read that will match the mood we're in; which is why I read 3 or four (sometimes more) books at a time. However, when a good read comes my way, the sun is about to rise when I finish it...

San - my favourite is The Night Watch. I actually haven't read her new one - I picked it up recently, read a few pages and wasn't grabbed. I will give it a go though. Without giving too much away, what did you find disappointing?

I'm the same. I was reading a lot of Stephen King and Michael Crichton but I want to expand.

I could never pick just one author! Of the classics, my favorites are Poe, Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Kate Chopin, and Dickens.

I love a lot of different genres and my favorite authors here are Rebecca Brandewyne, Bertrice Small, Scott Spencer, Roger Zelazny, Jack Higgins, Jacqueline Carey, N.T. Morely, Reese Gabriel, Jim Butcher, Tolkien, Stephen King....

I'm sure that I'm missing some people here!

Daisy1979 - I thought the idea was excellent - but it did not deliver in the end. She could have executed the idea better and this is a real shame as I found the characters rounded and sharp - the same as her other books - it was a very weak ending. I don't want to say anymore and give the story away but I enjoyed the book until the end. Her writing is the same as her other books and enjoyable to read and there are some really chilling bits. Hope I haven't put you off too much :?

P. S. Lanard has a forward in his latest book where he talks about the history of his job experience. He is a great guy and is really interested in helping people via his auto troubleshooting guide. You can find it on Lulu or Amazon. I like him because he is sincerely concerned about his readers.

My all time favorite author is Dean Koontz. He is an amazing writer. All his characters are so vivid and you get into them very quickly. Although lately he hasn't impressed me with any of his latest books, all his other ones behind Forever Odd are amazing.

I also like:
James Patterson
Mitch Albom
John Grisham
Tom Clancy

My favorite author of all time is Laurel K. Hamilton. I have read every piece of work she has written and I can't get enough of her. Each time I finish her most recent book, I anxiously await the next installment. I recently finsihed Skin Trade, the most recent book in the Anita Blake series, in two days. Once I start reading, I just can't stop!
