Journey to Your Summit by Dave Vetta is not your typical self-help book. It will not give you mathematical formulas to achieve financial success; it does not blame or shame you for your faith – or lack thereof; and it won’t exhort you to follow the lifestyle of any particular guru or influencer. Rather, Journey to Your Summit is a guide to help the reader live a more fulfilling life in a way that works for them.

Vetta’s book is a life-planning guide that is written in an easy, conversational style. It is filled with quotes and anecdotes that support his vision. There are worksheets at the end of each chapter to help the reader put plans and ideas into actionable goals. Journey to Your Summit is not only about the beginning of your working career but also about when you are nearing its end. In some ways, the life-planning aspects of Journey to Your Summit are tailored to older readers, but there is much information of value to younger readers, as well.

Journey to Your Summit can be read from front to back, but it doesn’t have to be. The information is organized in such a way that a reader can pick and choose what chapter they want to read without feeling that they are missing something by not reading the preceding chapters. This is the type of book that a reader will want to save so that they can refer back to it in the future; they’ll find it useful at times when they need a little encouragement, or when they’ve lost their way, or even just to remind themselves what they are getting right. Vetta even encourages readers to contact him with questions or their own personal anecdotes, and provides his personal email address.

The only negative in the book is a few typographical errors. However, because Journey to Your Summit has both useful information and is a pleasure to read, I am happy to give it a 5 out of 5 rating.
