The book follows the author's travel adventures. Stepping outside of his comfort zone took him on a journey to rediscover the world and himself.

From my point of view there is no perfection. Even the most wealthy individuals, still have something missing inside them. I feel that Brent finds peace, not perfection.

The experiences lived by the author in search of a perfect and full life seem very interesting and entertaining. I believe this autobiography can teach us lessons, and tourist and religious aspects. Sounds intriguing!

In the Shadow of a Dark Star: Godwinks and the Search for a Golden Thread is a book authored by Brent R. Mekosh. In this autobiography, Brent provides a thorough account of the experiences he had while visiting numerous continents, including Asia and Africa. The reader can experience the characters' feelings through the book's adequate descriptive content. Even though it's an autobiography, Brent delivered the narrative in an engaging way. The book reviewer provided a very clear explanation. I'm eager to get started on this book. Congratulations on BOTD to the writer.

"In The Shadow Of A Dark Star" by K.A. Applegate: This young adult fantasy novel is part of the popular Animorphs series. Your comment could focus on the thrilling plot, the relatable characters, or the series' exploration of themes like friendship and courage.

This book takes the reader on an investigation of the author's inner and outside worlds as well as a voyage of self-discovery. The story is compelling and captivating, engrossing the reader with detailed descriptions of Australia, Africa, India, and other places while maintaining a strong feeling of emotional candor. Congrats on BOTD.

Travelling several continents including Asia and Africa in itself is a fulfilling experience. Life lessons like happiness is not attained from outside it needs to be searched inside is learnt by the author. It is true that in Hinduism our problems are attributed to karma. An enlightening book inherent with several aspects.

I like the fact that the author included almost every religion in this book, therefore every reader can be comfortable to read. The different life scenarios were epic as this happens to most people, it is a very emotional book. Congratulations on making book of the day.

I'm not particularly fond of memoirs, and I'm not very interested in personal religious experiences, so this book isn't for me. Nevertheless, let me wish the author congratulations on his accomplishment.

This is a very useful and informative review. Just one comment: I only sampled a few pages, so I cannot tell if there are any other signs of racism but I do not think that the quote you chose to illustrate racism is racist. By definition, racism is "prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism [...] on the basis of [...] a particular racial or ethnic group [...] (Source: Oxford Languages). But the quote in the review is not prejudicial, discriminating, or antagonistic - it only shows the ratio of the white vs the aboriginal population in South Africa and the role of the white population in spurring the country's modernisation and development. It does not berate the native population, and native cultures in many countries have some of the life aspects more advanced and others - less. As an example, we do not shun, on the racism ground, adoration for the mystic Tibetan healing methods, juxtaposing them with modern western medicine, and the quote in your review seems comparable to that. But this is a moot point, just I liked sampling this book, especially as the author caringly protects his son from imposing on him his own memories, so I feel like protecting the author :).

It was a very powerful and eye opening book. The author's exceptional travel experiences really brings out the truth and the feeling he wanted to covey through the book. We often only see or know the glamorous side of travelling and visiting new places. But as the old saying "All that glitters is not gold" the author through his book emphasised on all the negativity that comes with traveling alone in unknown countries among unknown cultures .

Good review. I have read many books about westerners travelling to Asia and Africa. I always wonder what attracts them to such places—to find meaning or experience the exotic? I would like to know what the author's motives were.
