I was engrossed in "Saving KC".Kelly's determination changed my feelings. The narrative is emotionally powerful and engrossing. I couldn't help but cheer for Kelly's recovery, celebrate his love, and consider the lesson about the resilience of the human spirit in hardship.
I believe in something greater than myself.

The review underscores the book's message of not giving up on finding love and how the best things in life often come unexpectedly. This optimistic message of hope and the redemptive power of love resonates with readers and adds emotional depth to the novel. Nice review.

Definitely not my cup of tea from so many angles, but mostly I have issues with the part of "struggling with the traumas and abuse inflicted on him while in captivity". No offense, I am sure the book is good and will find its readers, but I will have to skip it. Congratulations with BOTD, anyway!

This sounds like a wonderful book. Providing a glimpse into the life of a veteran facing the unavoidable PTSD caused by war and rebuilding from there. Well done to the author on #BOTD

"Saving KC" by Grinnell Desjarlais is a story of war, tragedy, grief, and love. This book helps give an insight of what being a soldier is like. The brilliant writing and great editing is something to watch out for. Congratulations on BOTD.

Kelly's story is a true rollercoaster ride. I loved reading his, Rita's, and KC's story.

Thank you for the great review.

Nice review Alexander! I am left wondering if the events of the story are based in real life events or 'rough' approximations of real life events? Does the author make note of this throughout any of the writings? For me, it would help to understand the context of the conflict Kelly faces, as well as help the reader understand the bias inherent in any military-related story, which often leaves out the 'enemy' position. Such an inclusion would make for a deeper and more interesting in my opinion.

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting historical fiction romance novel following Kelly, whose dreams are to move to California and marry his love Rita. His plans change however when he enlists in the military and and goes missing on a mission only to return years later but is suffering mentally and is not the same person he was. Will his love get him back to normal? It might be worth a second look. Well done.

This is a great review. I have a sibling in the military and hope that he never has to go through what KC does. This book sounds like an emotional rollercoaster!

This review has been compiled extraordinarily as it details the events in the book very well. Anyone reading this would be be immediately compelled to read the book 'Saving KC' to find out more. It is both sadenning and relieving to know even after going through so much Kelly was able to find love once more. Thank you for this review.

"Saving KC" by Grinnell Desjarlais is a captivating romance novel that intricately weaves the resilient life of Kelly. From his dreams of a better life in California to the highs of his initial romance with Rita and the lows of traumatic military experiences, the narrative explores the complexities of love, loss, and resilience. The novel authentically delves into darker themes, such as post-captivity trauma and a drinking problem, adding depth to Kelly's character. What sets the book apart is its ability to balance heart-wrenching moments with a renewed sense of hope, particularly through the introduction of a new love interest. Personally, I found the emotional depth of the story profoundly moving, making "Saving KC" a recommended read for those seeking a love story with substance and a lasting impact.

While reading this review I liked the way you chose your words to describe this book. Even if I haven't read this book, but I was thinking of reading it, I also think that this book took the experience of war and working in the army seriously, but even if Kelly went through a difficult time, at least he was able to get through it and find love again and defeat life's difficulties. and just by the review i think this book deserves 5 out of 5 stars.

I am a Carpenters fan so I'm curious about the book. The cover design adds to the intrigue. But the war part dissuades me. I am shunning sad stories these days.
