What do you need to fall asleep? What is your bedtime ritual? Is it enough to have a comfortable bed? Do you like receiving a goodnight kiss? Stevie Tenderheart Books: A Second Kiss Goodnight (A Bedtime Story) by Steve William Laible is part of the Stevie Tenderheart Book series. This fun children’s book will keep young children entertained and stimulate their imagination, teach them some great lessons, and it is a guaranteed good night sleep.

Stevie Tenderheart is like all children should be; he dreams in vivid color and has a bright imagination. He loves animals and having adventures with them. But there is also one thing that, like most children, Stevie hates to do: go to bed during the summer when there is still daylight. As much as he hates it, he also knows that he must follow his parents’ rules, even if he does not like them. That is what good children do. Stevie has a brilliant mind; he is a smart little kid, so one night he devised a plan to make sure he can stay up late, getting two goodnight kisses from every animal and creature in his neighborhood. Will his plan work? Will Stevie’s parents discover what is happening? What animal gives the best goodnight kisses?

I loved Laible’s writing style, which was simple, entertaining, and fun. The story invites children and adults to keep an open mind and exercise their imagination to live this bedtime story next to Stevie. The book has no illustrations, and at first, I thought that would make it boring to children, but imagining everything happening because of the author’s brilliant descriptions is easy and fun. This book has incredible lessons for children, like following their parents’ rules, being creative, and keeping a positive mindset. There are also some entertaining facts about animals and funny adventures Stevie has with them, which can also teach children how to behave around animals.

There is nothing negative I can say about A Second Kiss Goodnight. The book has been exceptionally well edited and is completely free from errors. The language is simple and easy for children to understand. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I recommend this book to parents of children ages five and up. I also think children seven and up might enjoy reading this book on their own. A Second Kiss Goodnight is one of the best bedtime stories I have read, and it will help children have vivid, adventurous dreams next to Stevie.
