It is saddening to see that someone has to spend almost his entire life battling mental health issues and not having a good life. From 9 to the 70's is really a long time. I'm glad for the happy moments, and I hope he has much more of those henceforth. I've read a couple of biographies where the authors had mental issues, and I learnt that, yes, it can be hereditary.

The truth is there are quite a number of experiences a child can have at a very tender age that can hunt him/her for the rest of their lives
Steve's expository and apt writing on "Teetering on Tightrope" reveals a lot on how that is true.

Today's BOTD is a memoir by Steven Wilson, who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder as an adult. The horrible event of sexual abuse at the young age of nine left Wilson scarred for life. It was heartbreaking to learn that he contemplated suicide after that incident and never shared that with anyone for over twenty years. I'm glad he found peace and happiness. Congratulations on the BOTD!

The review is nice but I don't think I am up for this book, the theme and the topics expressed in this book is going to make it a hard read, but I love the courage of the author, the way he shared traumas that most people will be ashamed of and prefer buried. Kudos to both the author and reviewer for a job well done.

It's absolutely intriguing that many, if not all, of the author's family members developed mental health issues. While I believe it isn't something that is through the DNA, I think it has more to do with shared experiences.

This book would undoubtedly be a great read. I'd love to delve deeper and figure out if the author got the answers to his question.

This book elicits mixed feelings for my case. I loved the book but at the same time was empathetic with the traumatic experiences mentioned in the book. The ordeal in chapter 1 is one that would require strong resilience to overcome, which the persona is able to achieve although it takes him a long time. It is a great read!

The reviewer's appreciation for the book's professional editing and the deductive critique for more positive moments is insightful. The nuanced portrayal of dark times and glimpses of happier periods creates a balance. I'm intrigued by the emotional complexity and considering reading it to gain a deeper understanding of bipolar disorder.

Great review! Your thoughtful analysis captures the essence of 'Teetering on a Tightrope.' I appreciate your focus on the author's storytelling and the historical context woven into the narrative. Your observation about the predominant somber tone and the desire for more exploration of positive moments adds depth to the review. It's always intriguing to see how different readers interpret the same memoir. Well done on providing a comprehensive perspective!

I just finished reading the sample book in Kindle and was wondering if I should read it. The initial chapter was captivating. After reading your review, I realize this is not the book for me. I don't lean to the darker side very much. A heartfelt thanks for your review. The clarity and flow of your review along with the detailed analysis of the book makes it worthwhile.

'Teetering on a Tightrope: My Bipolar Journey' by Steven W. Wilson is insightful. Will it be right to conclude that mental health issues can result from helpless constant exposure to other people suffering from it? Congrats on BOTD. Beautiful review.

The reviewer's mention of the author's clear writing style and societal context adds depth to the memoir. The exploration of mental health issues within the family raises thought-provoking questions. Despite the somber tone, the book's honesty is appealing, and I'm curious to explore the complexities of bipolar disorder.
